Recharging Magic Armors

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

So most (all?) magic armors allow you to recharge them when you reset your hand at the end of the turn.

But, exactly, when can you do it?

Can you do it before drawing up to your hand size?
Can you do it after drawing (meaning you draw it and immediately recharge it)?

Thanks.

You recharge them at the end of your turn before you draw new cards up to your hand size..

You do it before drawing back up to your hand size.

your hand than your hand size specifies, you must discard until the
number of cards in your hand matches your hand size. Finally, if you
have fewer cards than your hand size, you must draw cards until the
number of cards in your hand matches your hand size.

Hum.. to me it looks like this just says what types of power you can use, not when.

When it starts the sequence (first..., then..., finally...) it doesn't say in which part of the sequence you can play those powers.

Am I wrong?

Anyway you cannot do anything (that must be done during YOUR turn) after you reset your hand. So certainly not recharging an armor.

It also works this way in the app. You can recharge your magic armor before discarding cards.

I'm with Frencois. "Finally" you draw your cards. This ends your turn.
You couldn't recharge an armor "while you reset your hand" once resetting your hand has ended.

So, you might say, while I am drawing my cards, I draw an armor I can recharge when I reset my hand, so I can just recharge it then, because I haven't finished drawing my cards.

Interesting idea. I think the rule "Finish one thing before you start another" applies here. You can't interrupt drawing cards to play a power on a card.

We've clarified this in the Mummy's Mask rulebook:

Mummy's Mask Rulebook wrote:

Resetting Your Hand

Do the following whenever you are instructed to reset your hand. First, apply any effects that happen when you reset your hand. You may also play cards or use powers that say they may be used when you reset your hand. Next, you may discard any number of cards. Then, if you have more cards in your hand than your hand size specifies, you must discard until the number of cards in your hand matches your hand size. Finally, if you have fewer cards than your hand size, you must draw cards until the number of cards in your hand matches your hand size.

(Mechanically speaking, it doesn't really matter whether you recharge them before or after you discard, but it does matter that you do it before you draw.)

It's probably worthwhile to remind people that the rulebook from the latest base set is the governing rulebook for all sets, except in regard to elements specific to each set (ie ships in S&S).

Thank you. The rewrite now makes it very clear.

Don't forget to recharge your spells before and recharge and shuffle after you reset your hand!

What, not everyone does that?

Aww.... :(

Still, timing is everything when you have things going on before, during, and after!

You can recharge your spells when you reset your hands? Thought you could only recharge them when you played them.

Shuffle after you reset your hand? Why?

The poster is taking on the persona of the Sorceror class deck character Amaryllis. These are powers she has.

Yeah, Amaryllis gives up the Sorcerer blast power for extra recharge attempts, much like how they converted the Magus' Spell Recall ability for Seltyiel (S&S).
