Magical Child Vigilante and age restrictions

Rules Questions

So I was planning to play a magical child Vigilante but i noticed that young players are restricted in their class choices (adept, aristocrat, commoner, expert, or warrior) and only gets limited skill ranks.

Is this the same with the vigilante archetype or would you be able to play a child with the magical child and gain the right skill ranks

Also do the young character ability score adjustments come in to play?

"Magical child" is just a name for the archetype. There is no RAW restriction on the character's age.

The archetype is inspired by the Japanese magical girl subgenre of anime and manga.

Helps to read the fluff section! It starts with, "Some vigilantes, no matter their age (…)", so you're good to go.

Yeah that I know the inspiration for it, I am trying make a magical girl type character for an upcoming campaign i'll be in.

The information I stated before came from page 194 of Ultimate Campaign

so would it still have the ability score and skill rank restrictions?

No, you're missing the point, they're saying you don't have to start out as a child if you don't want to, it's just a name. :-)

Personally, both my kids have teenage Kineticists (I blame Yoon) and I just had them make them normally, but I don't have Ultimate Campaign, so.

Liberty's Edge

If you choose to play a child then the rules for such will depend on your GM. Those in Ultimate Campaign are an optional system (which include the option of allowing your young character to be treated as an adult anyway).

Liberty's Edge

Quite a few people have pointed out before that He-Man is pretty suited to being a Magical Child. Between the transforming badass kitty and THE POWER OF GREYSKULL there is legitimately a good deal of support for it. So yeah, Adult Magical Children are definitely legal and there are existing media that follow the concept!

Side note: The name (and transformation) is inspired by the magical girl genre.

The game play is actually Pokémon/Digimon: You're mostly a buffer with a combat pet.

(Yes, magical girls usually have animal mascots, but those are non-combatants, and magical girls are usually blaster, not buffer.
Amusingly, this means you're a better at being Taxido Mask then Sailor Moon - showing up, delivering a few buffs and having your allies win is easier than blasting them yourself.)

But yeah, the "Magical Child" doesn't have to be a child, but if it is, usual child rules apply. But then, there aren't any actual rules for children as PCs, just a bunch of suggestions.
