Storm of Blades and weapon size

Rules Questions

What is the size of the weapons summoned by the storm of blades spell? Is it the same as the material component?

Can I use a large bastard sword as a component for the spell and summon large bastar sword with it (without penalties for proficiency or unusual size)?

Can I use as a component a weapon that is too big for me to wield (like a huge greatsword) to summon the same weapon?

"...deals the same damage as a standard sword of the type expended"

It's vague but you could say that "standard" implies standard size too. It works oddly in the other direction too though. Imagine using fine size swords as the material, because they are cheaper and easier to carry around. And what about eschew elements? Many fine size swords are under the price limit for that feat.

There is no standard size in Pathfinder. The size matches the expended component.

Medium is generally treated as standard in the rules. Weapon and armor weights are given for medium size and then you are expected to use formulae to make them non-standard sizes.

So what are the penalties for a medium creature casting this spell with a colossal longsword as a material component?

I'd say the penalty is having to explain to your GM how you transport that thing around in between combats and how you retrieve it before casting and stuff like that...

Eh, a colossal longsword is 12 spaces long and would only weigh 64lbs. You could stick it inside a type II bag of holding easily enough, although you wouldn't have a whole lot of volume left.

The rules don't explicitly specify this, in my campaigns such spell effects apply to either your size, or the size of the component - whichever is smallest.

For comparison, spiritual weapon summons a medium size weapon, even though it never explicitly says so, because medium is the assumed default/standard size.

I mean, if it doesn't say it summons a medium sized weapon then it doesn't necessarily do so... you are still limited by the damage of the spell of course. It would be amusing to see a colossal dagger flying around doing a medium greatsword's worth of damage.

Something like that would definitely pierce the bag, and you'd have to manage the full weight when it's out of the bag.

Nope, the type II has 15 14 cubes worth of volume, an (average) colossal longsword only takes up 12 cubes worth of space.

EDIT: oh, i guess you would need to leave it in its scabbard while its in the bag
