Battle heralds are great buffers, i know..... but .... here is a idea for a solo knight - that , at later levels, be a great buffer but at low levels can mostly buff self - and be a greater melee than most melee (see in the end the PRO side).
Dervish of Dawn make sure it's THIS one. .
level 1: cavalier: if DEX build = Daring champion, otherwise , Gendarme for a feat and heavy armor or standard bearer .
level 2: order of the cockatrice kicks in . +2 to all shaken foes. make sure to insert cournogon smash or enforcer with the feats.
levels 3-6 = Bard.
level 6 + battle herald.
why?
at level 3 = +2 from bard (X2 amount), +2 from order.
level 8 = +4 bard, +2 order. BAB = -1, level 2 spells, good skills, great saves (i went 1/2 orc...) .
it's a much better then most level 8 melee, that can even buff the entire party.
thoughts? DEX (dervish dance feat) VS STR (2 hander a scimitar and a quick draw-shield.)? advice?

Honestly the best battle herald I've ever seen was a player who was allowed to play a calvalier with the 3rd party archtype inspired commander, they went straight into battle Gerald and focus on buffing and using aid other to help everyone out
Inspiring commander a if allowed , will have no reason to enter battle Herald. Why? For some more types of buffs? For a very high level ability of 2 buffs same time ? He lose order and smite in the meanwhile.
