Half-Elf Class

Rules Questions

Half elves have Multitalented, in which I can take two favored classes at 1st. How does that work, exactly? Do I get both class Hp bonuses? Or do I pick one?

When you gain a level in either of the two classes, you get your favored class bonus, whether you choose 1 HP, 1 skill point, or the alternative bonus. If you want to go really screwy, take the multitalented mastery feat and every class will get the bonus.

^ he's right.

If you do want to get two at a time take the feat fast learner, available to half elves.

Liberty's Edge

You only get the favored class bonus when you gain a level in the chosen class (including level 1).

The Multitalented racial feature only applies for people who are going to multiclass.

Think of it this way: How many times do you see a character "Dip" a level into another class such as Fighter to gain a feat early or qualify for a prestige class? When they do that they have to give up a level of their favored class bonus unless they are a half-elf.

Multitalented is a good candidate for trading out, generally.

If you don't multi-class, the trait does nothing for you, but if you're going to make say a rogue/sorcerer, both classes can be made your favorite class, which mans you can get an FCB for level sin both.
