Ranged Study + Ray (from wand)?

Wondering if the modified investigator ability studied strike with ranged study feat can be taken with 'ray' as the weapon type.

Ray is considered a weapon and is ranged so you can take it

Ok cool, thought so since ray is weapon focus-able but wasn't sure if there was some subtlety I was missing
