Skittergoat Animal Companion Optimisation

Advice

A friend of mine is dead set on playing a nature cleric with a skittergoat animal companion. The problem is - the skittergoat's stats leave a lot to be desired. It's small/medium in size and is at least -2 in all physical stats compared to the premium animal companion choises, it also has only one natural attack. The only redeeming feature is that it's gore attack is resolved against touch AC during a charge. Is there any way to build upon that in a useful manner?

take the archetype that lets you have multiple companions maybe? its usually terrible because your animal companion falls behind in to-hit, but if you're going to be hitting touch ac at least half the time, this will give you 'more attacks' kinda.

The problem is that it gives you more attacks until the first fireball in the battle. After that it gives you 0 attacks:) Also, he is a cleric with the nature domain, I believe the archetype in question is a druid one.

Take Dodge, Mobility and Spring attack ? Have it make all its attacks ad charging past the target and delivering it's headbut. Improved natural attack will also increase damage , and against touch attack ac Power attack will often work

Sadly power attack doesn't work with touch attacks in PF. Still, there are possibilities: a spell storing amulet of mighty fists could work, clerics have a bunch of nice level 1-3 spells to charge it with. After the first strike though, the amulet's discharged and you may not be in position to charge again anyway.

At worst it can still be a flanking buddy, and you might focus on feats to make use of that.

If you're the GM, suggest modifying the animal companion to be better. If you're not the GM, suggest to the GM that they suggest modifying the animal companion to be better. If you're me, suggest to the OP that I suggest to the GM that they suggest...

Er, point is, all non-dinosaur and non-cat companions are varying levels of s@~*. It's worth a rebalance.
