Daring champion

Advice

For a daring champion , isn't it well worth it to dip 1 to 5 to a swashbuckler?
You get the parry at level 1. Swift action intimidate at 3, your level as precise strike at 3 and weapon training for the gloves and a feat at 5, as well as imp cricital. With all weapons .

There are a lot of duplicating abilities that you don't get any benefits from. In addition:

  • Precise Strike at level 3 only makes up for the loss in Percise Strike from Daring Champion (not really, see below).
  • You don't really gain a feat, you also lose out on bonus feats within Daring Champion.
  • The Improved Critical via Swashbuckler Weapon Training is only worth it if you start dipping at level 4. Otherwise you'll gain it later than you normally would pick it up (at level 8). This, in turn, delays the Deeds and Panache gained within Daring Champion untill after your 5 level dip is done.

  • Also
  • The "Swashbulcker Weapon Training" class feature isn't really the "Weapon Training" class feature that the Gloves of Dueling refers to.
  • Is a swift intimidate really worth anything? How much?

What you lose out on are 5 levels of Banner, Challange and Order progression. That's quite a lot.

  • Not really worth it. You just lose out on so much of the progression seen from sticking to one class and what you get back isn't worth it.

I mean...I would stick out with cavalier until at least level 7 since that gets you chain challenge (and you have the cha for that because of panache). That feat can be a game changer for cavaliers.

But the +1/+1 and improved critical isn't worth that much at level 12, especially when it takes off 5 damage off your challenges improved with chain challenge. And as it has been stated- the gloves don't work. The mechanics are completely different, and it doesn't use weapon groups. So no gloves of dueling.

At the most, i can see the one level dip to grab parry, since it works well with your mechanics. And I would take it at level 8, since otherwise it delays chain challenge for 2 levels.

Heck, it is even advantageous to take a one level dip into a different full BAB class as a cavalier, since their tactician ability is a bit off alignment. You see, one of the best teamwork feats to just randomly give everyone, in my opinion, in coordinated charge. Once that is on everyone, the entire party (minus one attacker) gets pseudo pounce in a round- which can be fantastic. But unfortunately, the prerequisites prevent you from grabbing coordinated charge with your level 9 tactician (it needs +10 BAB). So taking that one level dip could be great for you.
