Areelu Vorlesh smiles.
"I had been toying with you. Amusing myself. But playtime is over."
With this, Areelu spreads wide her arms and a rift tears open in reality. Evil and madness pour forth, a miasma or wrongness and pest and death assaulting your senses.
A half-dozen babaus tumble through into the room, and beyond them the PCs catch glimpses of even greater demons preparing to enter - vrocks, glabrezus, even a marilith. The power of Abyss comes down on you.
But then, suddenly, the energy infusing your characters pulses back outward. The powerful energy hits the Abyssal rift and slams it shut - Areelu screams in pain as the magical feedback tears into her body, breaking bones and shredding her wings. An instant later, her projected image vanishes - her connection to the Material Plane has been severed.
But the six babaus that managed to clamber into the Material Plane before the rift closed remain.
Babau Demons, emaciated figures that look like a horned human skeleton smothered within a bone-tight hide of slimy leather.
Babau Demons. Immune to normal weapons, covered in acid that corrodes even the weapons that attack them. Demons capable of murdering half a dozen warriors before teleporting away to the darkness.
And your characters are facing six of them.
And then they start summoning from Abyss more of their kind.

As soon as you start attacking your characters notice something is different. They are different. Their movements are more fluid, their aim is better, and they feel like a helping hand is guiding their actions.

The babau demons can't believe two of their number have fallen, and another two are injured so quickly. The seven remaining demons smile, as they known NOW is their turn.
The first of them opens its arms and let darkness pour forth from his shadow, trying to make all of your characters blind and defenseless.
And your characters know that at least for some seconds the demons will have the upper hand, while you somehow dispel the darkness.
But the darkness doesn't fall.
It floats over your characters, while the light of the power bestowed over you dispel it, destroys it, washes it away.
The babau demons stop smiling, growl, and lash out with abandon, deciding to go out fighting.
