Witch vs Winter Witch Question

Advice

I have a question about a level 20 witch. I am going with a northern Irrisen witch concept. Heavily on the cold spells. What would be better straight 20 witch, or 10/10 witch/winter witch PrC.

Really depends on if a 5 witch/5 winter witch qualifies for Split Hex feat at level 10 or not. If not, I'd suggest going full witch because that feat can really up the witch's hex game. While the prestige class is flavourful, it does lock you into your first 3 major hexes and slows down casting progression by 1 level, and you'd lose the free spells per level (not that it matters too much except with very stingy GMs).

I will have to look into the Split Hex feat and see. This is for something I am running. I am mainly asking because I don't know much about the witch class or the winter witch PrC. It is an end boss fight.

Even if it didn't qualify they're debating Winter 10 Witch 10, so they'll still be able to get Split Hex.

If you want a Cold Feel I cannot advocate Winter Witch enough.

I was doing some extra looking and the archetype winter witch 10/ winter witch PrC 10 looks like it is what I am looking for. Yes looking at the feat it won't matter because I am building it at lvl 20, not needing to play through to it.

By RAW you can even Qualify for Split Major Hex (which just requires CL 18 and not Witch 18) which is really nice.
