15 years ago, I swore an oath to support and defend my country. Today my service has been fulfilled. I now swear to continue this support to all mankind. To my fellow Pathfinders, I swear to Explore, Report, and Cooperate for as long as I am able.
Awesome!! Thanks for serving - its a small % that do, and many realize deployments are dangerous and hard on families, but have less appreciation for just how the military life-style can be hard on families and friendships. Moving frequently, sometimes living in foreign countries, missed birthdays/anniversaries/graduations just due to training exercises, etc.
Enjoy your new free time and stability!
...I've not yet figured out what I want to do when I grow up, so for now I'll keep lacing the boots up each morning.

Congratulations!
I am retiring after 20 years of service myself. The transition has so far been going fairly well: I start a new job shortly and am in the process of closing on a home; this past week has been packing out and leaving my old residence for the move (follow the jobs).
I will say that military service does prepare most members fairly well for a post-military career: discipline, initiative, and tenacity are useful in any environment; teamwork is emphasized; for those in the noncommissioned or officer ranks, training and experience on leadership and management (soft skills) is normally provided on a continuing basis. There are several technical specialties that are easily transferrable (IT, for one) and/or there are methods to attain licenses/accreditation in equivalent civilian fields.
