Setting an invisible foe on fire

Rules Questions

I was looking at Blistering Invective, and it says all enemies within 30 feet that can hear you are "scorched by your fury". So, from that I would assume it works on invisible foes.

Is the initial fire visible?

If the opponent fails it's saving throw and catches on fire, is that fire visible?

If the fire is not visible, can the foe be tracked more easily by the heat and smoke of the fire?

I assume that the fire becomes apart of the foe so not visible.

That's kinda my thinking too. But that leads to the next part. The fire may be invisible, but it gives off heat, smoke, and sound. Does that make the target easier to spot? It's also a light source. Invisible light sources still give off light.

Don't misunderstand invisibility. The effect does not continue to make new objects invisible. Objects must be completely covered, IE stored, to become invisible.

Example... Person A is invisible and picks up a visible weapon. The weapon is still visible until it is put in a pack that completely covers it.

But, while fire can be made invisible the light it produces is still visible which allows you to pinpoint the source. But this is only useful if the character is actually caught on fire not just burned. Blistering invective can set things on fire but only if they fail a save.

I agree with Lorewalker. If you set an invisible foe on fire, you will be able to see their location (what square they're in). They will still have 50% concealment from your attack. Just like if they had picked up a sword. You will see where they are but still have your miss chance to hit them (unless you're attacking the sword.) While being on fire may seem similar to being outlined by faerie fire or glitterdust, those are magical effects specifically made to counter invisibility, whereas a person who is burning or on fire might only have their arm or shirt aflame, not necessarily their whole body.

Yeah, at best you might be able to locate their square but only if the catch on fire. They still retain all the other benefits of being invisible.
