Back in April, I heard the company behind Order of the Stick, Giant in the playground, and there online store, Ookoodook were coming out with a collecton of the early ootS strips there were in Dragon and a few other stories.
They said it would be a limited run and you will only be able to get them through the site, and to secure one, to pre order. So I pre ordered and a couple of days later my money was taken out of my account. They orginally expected the book to be out end of May. So they already have my money. I have pre ordered stuff from other places before and they would always wait until it shipped before they would take the money from my account. This time they took the money right after I placed my order. Big difference IMO. They took my money and have so far failed to proved me with the product.
May came and went. I posted asking if there was any updates. After not hearing back and having to do some checking, I found out the book would be delayed until mid june.
Mid June came and went. I asked again on the GitP forms. Ookoodook does not have fourms. The mods there basically said. 'oh well, nothign we can do, sorry." Any thread that was started by someone asking about the book that GitP already took money for was locked. Even at requests of other customers asking to make it a sticky when it had the info people wanted. The mods still deleted the threads. This IMO did not help with the issue. It only added to it.
I tryed to add a couple of threads so people could vent and people could see the latest info about the product that they had already paid for. But the mods kept deleting it. I got a few infractions on my form account.
I feel I am being punished for being a paying customer trying to find out where my product is. The mods at GitP say they and Ookoodook are two seprate sites. But when the person in charge of GitP as a link to Ookoodook in his form sig, encouragining people to go there and order things, I don't think they are totally unrelated.
Just wanted to let people know what a piece of crap company they are and to take your business someplace else.

To be fair: Ookoodook *did* state very clearly on the order page that it would be charged as soon as you placed your order, not when it shipped like it would normally do.
I am quite looking forward to getting the book. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.
I understand that. That does not really bother me. I understand delays happen. That is one thing I am very happy with Paizo is if there is a mess up causing a product to be delayed someone from Paizo always posts and keeps customers in the loop.
What I am upset with is the total lack of support from there sites. As a paying customer I would think I would get more understanding and support, not have threads locked.

Have you emailed Ookoodook about it?
Because from what you've said, I liken your situation to ordering a Precision laptop from Best Buy, then calling Dell and complaining that it hasn't shipped yet.
Yes, Rich is a business partner with Ookoodook, and it is his product, but complaining to him is kind of a roundabout way of doing things.

I pre-ordered this too, and was wondering what was going on. There is a locked thread on GiTP with an explanation from The Giant, and another more recent sticky thread from Ookadook explaining the further delay.
I had to email Ookadook with a change of address, and it took a few days but I did get a response confirming the change.
Their customer service isn't in the same league as Paizo's (we're a bit spoiled here), but I can't think that Ookadook did anything egregiously wrong in this case.
They made the decision to make this book limited and exclusive, with paid pre-orders, and as annoying as that might be, I'll put up with it because I want the book.
I think it will be worth the wait though.

I've been following this, too, and while Rich Burlew/GitP have not been very responsive to the outcry, Ookoodook is. Every time I have emailed them, I have gotten a prompt, clear, and courteous answer from Kevin at Ape Games. I think being tied up at Origins kept him from getting the information that was being demanded until yesterday evening, but once he had it, he posted it to the forums.
The mod behavior on the GitP forums is a bit weird, though - I think those forum mods are hypersensitive about not doing or saying the least little thing that could be construed as negative or critical about Burlew.
I see TriOmegaZero's point, too, but at the same time, GitP is the site that solicited the pre-orders for the product. I never go to Ookoodook just to browse their inventory - I only go there when/if Burlew posts a new product to his site. He's the creator, he's the one who explicitly asked that we pre-order the item to get a better estimate for his print run, and he should be the one to tell his customers why the product is being delayed.
I don't complain about the infrequency of OotS's updates - I realize Rich is giving us strips for free, and is likely dependent on ad revenue and merchandise to keep the business afloat. But paying in advance for a product that is now a month late and will probably be at least three months late by the time it reaches customers is a different story. This, I'm going to complain about.
Frankly, the only good excuse Burlew has at this point for not communicating directly with his fans is another round of severe illness. Which could be possible, as the comic hasn't been updated in about three weeks.

To the OP: sounds like you are being ripped off by these Oinkoinkoink guys. Taking money up front for some something and delaying product is a load of crap. It's in my book, close to stealing, and at the very least a breach of contract (i.e. I give you money up front; you give me the product on time, as promised; failure to the latter should be accompanied by a big "i'm sorry" letter with a full reimbursement or at least the option of reimbursement if you are dissatisfied)
Based on your info, the mods also suck to no end. On the basis of their action alone you should get the book and be given your money back. This way they might keep you as a customer.
At the very least, if you do not get satisfaction with these guys this time, and they are giving you nettiquette "infractions," then I hope you will at least learn some sense and not buy anything from these goons ever again.
Sincerely,
PDK

Just hopped over to GitP and found this in about three minutes (and I have not been to GitP in a very long time):
I would suggest checking back on these threads and the Ookoodook site for more information.
And if the book does not ship in August when they say it will, and you have emailed Ookoodook directly and gotten no result, and you have checked the sites for information carefully, THEN I would say contact the Better Business Bureau and go from there.
I haven't actually ordered the book, but I wish the best of luck to you to those who have. :)

The book is now due in July. The date in August is for a game/game expansion pack - a completely different product.

Whoops, you're right, I blurred the two paragraphs together. That's why I shouldn't be on the internet past my bedtime.
