Legends and Stories

Advice

I'm running a campaign and a player has made an Ulfen bard with ranks in Oratory. He wants his character to be a story teller, recounting tales of great heroes and amazing feats based off characters or events in the campaign setting, but other than telling him to read through some of the books on various countries to find out backstories on them I'm not 100% sure where to point him or if there even is a source for figures of legend and notable heroes/persons of Golarion. Any advice on what we can do or where to look would be greatly appreciated!

* Have him go online and look up jokes. In my culture, that what we call most of our folktales: the tales of Little Billy, the Friend of a Friend of Mine, and of course, That Guy. So then, once he has a good repetoire of jokes, he embellishes them and turns them into Ulfen folktales.

"...The tent fabric tore asunder, and out fled the Warbeast into the mountains, faster than any saw anything move, never to be seen again."

"And the drunken Norgard the Neckless barely stood in the wreckage of the tent, swaying, staring down the gobsmacked giants, and demanded, 'Where is your wench with that aching tooth?'!"

* Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss poems?

* Read about the Wizards of Free Energy and their seeming hopeless struggle against The Man, about Sullivan's Hurricane Gold Making Machine, about Hamel's Antigravity Spaceship Engine, about Nicola Tesla's Earthquake Machine, also asscociated with the Brown Note, and have him go on YouTube, and read about the world view of Flat Earthers.

That Guy
Who filled a multitude of balloons with rarefied air and flew up into the sky
Who tried to lower a huge barrel of of building stones on a pulley, that crashed to the ground and launched into the air. The barrel shattered on the ground, letting him plummet back to the ground (the pile of stones broke his fall) then he let go of the rope, and the empty barrel fell upon him.
Who relieved himself standing too near an electrified rail--or was it an electric fence?

I could go on, but the point is: That Guy has many a story to tell.

Just improv. The GM shouldn't be the only one that's allowed to describe the setting.

Have him tell some stories about the Linnorm Kings, Valenhall, etc.
Or find something interesting from here

There's not really one single source for Ulfen history/heroes/etc. I'd suggest having him take a look at the People of the North and Lands of the Linnorm Kings books for inspiration, and then he can just embellish from there. No reason he can't invent some heroes to sing about.

Additionally, I'd suggest pointing him toward some Old Norse/Scandinavian folktales (East of the Sun and West of the Moon is one of my favorites) and the Norse sagas, for more inspiration, since the Ulfens are very Viking-influenced. That can definitely help him get some ideas on structure/content for his stories.

Thanks for much for the replies! I've sent him all the links and suggestions from here and he's quite pleased :D So far he's also been reading some of the Pathfinder Tales for inspiration on epic stories he could tell.
