Can anyone please explain to me the best way to use a 'Demand' Spell?
One of the monsters in my campaign has it and I can't see any logical way to use it as it doesn't really seem to be useful.

Demand

School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level sorcerer/wizard 8, witch 8; Domain charm 8, nobility 8; Subdomain torture 8
EFFECT
Saving Throw Will partial; Spell Resistance yes
DESCRIPTION
This spell functions like sending, but the message can also contain a suggestion (see the suggestion spell), which the subject does its best to carry out. A successful Will save negates the suggestion effect but not the contact itself. The demand, if received, is understood even if the subject's Intelligence score is as low as 1. If the message is impossible or meaningless according to the circumstances that exist for the subject at the time the demand is issued, the message is understood but the suggestion is ineffective.
The demand's message to the creature must be 25 words or less, including the suggestion. The creature can also give a short reply immediately.

Tell them, you should go home and stay there. If they fail, they spend the next 15 hours trying to go home. Also, with the creature needing to be familiar, just figure the monster has been scrying on them or something like that.

This spell used to be pretty devastating once, since you could suggest things like "Would you kill your cleric, please?".
You can still go with "teleport your cleric to safety at his home when combat starts" for the wizard, or with "run for your life when faced with at least equal odds" for the tank.

Consider things like disguising yourself to look like an angel, then telling a local enforcer "Arrest these noted adventurers for murder and search the latrine behind the inn for evidence" (previously planted there by you, of course.)
Or things like "minion, coup de grace your annoying boss with a pick axe next time he sleeps, telling no one about this before or after" (a good phrase to add to any such spell)...
Or "valet, replace your master's scroll of raise dead in his emergency pack with speak with dead"
Or disguise yourself as the PC, and tell his loyal secretary to send a messenger with 1000 gold pieces to the Bank of Abadar and deposit it in box 666.
in combat situations, it's no more powerful than a suggestion except for the higher save DC. But, you can send a demand for anything to anyone on the same plane at any time. That's enormously powerful. This is a great spell for evil masterminds, because it means they can reach anyone, any time, anywhere, without having to expose themselves. It's also good for harassing the Pcs for a week before they meet up with the enemy - even if they make most of their saves, can they all be sure everyone else did?

Yeah, this is a spell that's great for sabotage. Not for once combat has actually started and you are near your enemy.
Imagine you could whisper in your enemy's ear (from a distance away) and that they might actually do it what you told them.
Be as sly and cunning as possible.
"Coup de grace your party members while they sleep"
