Also Cel, I believe you have Henri's alchemist's kindness, for the guaranteed hangover to come.
GM Mikkel
Ah yes, thanks Xizoh. (Relevant post copied below.)
Cel, please also accept Xizoh's vial and acquaintance (if that's what you choose to do) before leaving the room to head to the stables.
------------
Silently, Xizoh fishes in his satchel before pulling out small vial of what looks like salt, and hand it to Cel.
Leaning against the bar, he says, "Give her that to take away the hangover." Looking uncomfortable, he heads up towards his room, before turning back. "So if both of you are going to rescue the soldiers, I guess that mean's we'll be traveling together. I'm Xizoh, a healer."
Henrietta Coy
Sounds good! Very fun intros to the characters (disregarding scary secret super-serious looking roleplay spoilers).
Henri went a little overboard on her first day >_> I'm sure she will be much more professional in the future. In terms of how much she drinks, at least.
GM Mikkel
I'm sure I don't know what you mean... ;D
Henri doesn't need to convince me, she needs to convince the commander of the southern contingent of the Altiendel military. =D (Which I think she would probably have a sense of. She would know the military likes to keep things pretty tightly controlled, even for an unusual program like this.)
Cel Runil
@Xizoh: I love that you're playing a Fetchling! Definitely one of my favorite races. I've got a Facebook group PbP going with a bunch of meatspace friends that I'm playing a Fetchling Shadowsworn/PrC Master Spy with. It's a blast to play with the shadow plane touch on things!
Xizoh Shadelock
@Cel: I'm not actually a Fetchling though. I wanted to, but I'm just a half elf that's basically raised a Fetchling. I'm like a shadow Tarzan, but I like people and heal them instead of kidnapping and swinging from trees. :)
Henrietta Coy
Yep, all half-elves and humans over on your guys' side of the rock. No one ever wants to commit to those stat adjustments, dammit! Still, Drow, fetchlings, basically the same thing, right? They both do... shadows...?
Cel Runil
Oh, that's right, I remember that now. Still, I like the idea of Fetchling-like. Also, glad you reminded me...Cel's RP of your new introduction would have been pretty off if I'm writing it out as if you were a Fetchling.
Pff, Fetchlings are way better. Drow DO shadow things, Fetchlings ARE shadow things. Super important distinction for me to mercilessly exploit in the crazy characters I tend to make :D
Seriously, I like the D&D 5e changes a lot, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get into it as much with the plethora of races/classes that's out there with Pathfinder + 3pp stuff. I have a strong apprehension to "normal" characters for some reason. Also, I'll be damned if I don't get as excited about more serious characters I make as much as I do quirky characters. Feel free to read over my Toyer Peppwinhans character for an example, normal race at least, but I had to go off the rail with the class.
Xizoh Shadelock
Well, Cel doesn't know Xizoh isn't Fetchling. Really, the only thing that says not a shadow being is the pointy ears weirdly enough. I'm still waiting for the reveal myself.
He has a point. Drow are like the bogeymen, they hide in the shadows. Fetchlings are a bad trip where you're getting choked out by an angry shadow who then teleports away.
Yeah, I've just barely started to get into and learn pathfinder, not a chance I could just switch. Besides, I've got lots of fun ideas I've still not given a proper breath of life to. Also, Crazy is more fun than sane. Unless you're playing the straight man.
GM Mikkel
And @Xizoh: you'd be aware that the Altiendel military uses mages, and that it's fairly likely these mages would be able to tell your cloak uses illusion magic.
There's no open conflict with drow in the southern kingdom so the bias isn't as strong here as in other universes (or parts of this world), but from his past experiences Xizoh expects to face a likelihood of discrimination about on par with someone of orc heritage (in his true form).
Xizoh Shadelock
Nah, you've got that square on. Might be weird if someone else walked out sounding just like the dude who rented a room last night, not to mention everyone wondering who it really is. Xizoh isn't exactly super foresightful outside of healing, especially when it comes to magic. He has exactly bothered to learn much of it outside his own, so he'll probably be won't be expecting the military revealing him.
Henrietta Coy
This is scary, it's like everyone disappeared at the same time >_> usually there's at least one post by now lol.
Henrietta Coy
I would assume so, I do have my irl game tonight to be fair. Just a lot of individual roleplaying going on tonight.
Cel Runil
Cel's kind of locked in a specific state...I've been reading, but posting would probably be a reiteration of what he's already doing until something else comes along to drag his attention away!
Henrietta Coy
I suppose I (or someone) could post something to move us out of bar mode, as much as I love this Reservoir Dogs-style breakfast, if everyone's just locked into their stuff we could head on out to go get into some stuff down at the military building. Getting an early start on the day and all that.
"Oh, gotta leave," and then Henri took a bath and left.
Alaina 'Iron Wolf' Steele
Sorry for my absence. Been having a real hard time focusing on writing the past couple days. Every time I went to write, my brain went blank.
Xizoh Shadelock
Sorry about that, life's kept me distracted.
GM Mikkel
Also, @Cel: in case this curiosity of Xizoh is based on a perceived change of appearance, he is still wearing his cloak of human guise today. (Also, I would be sure to mention any major appearance changes in your spoiler when a character enters your field of view. (Assuming you don't roll a one on perception.))
Cel Runil
Ooooh, I was just going off of his post stating that he was going to "reintroduce himself". I'm quite sure I missed something in translation, though, wouldn't be weird for that to happen! Ignore Cel's new curiosity everyone!
Henrietta Coy
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Cel probably just saw that his fingernails and hair had grown a millimeter and thought he looked like a completely different person.
GM Mikkel
I've gotten some feedback that the level of PC freedom is nice and feels immersive, but it also seems like the action is stalling.
How would folks feel about having GM-recommended meta-targets in terms of number of posts to the next story waypoint whenever the party is split?
For example, I might request all PCs be at the Southtown military headquarters within 1-2 posts (per PC) from now.
Either way, it seems like we are almost there. My interpretation is that Alaina and Cel are ready and waiting, Henri is ready, and Xizoh needs to come back downstairs. (Dulae is in position.)
Hang on to your hats - there is some (hopefully) interesting new material coming your way once you arrive.
Xizoh Shadelock
All good by me.
Dulae Toema
Sounds good to me!
I apologize btw for not having come to the bar and interacting with people - it just wasn't in character!
GM Mikkel
Hi all, really excellent RP.
Unfortunately, something unexpected came today - I just got off a flight and now have a four hour drive ahead of me. I do plan to post ASAP, but that may not be until late tonight Eastern US time or perhaps the morning.
Excuse the delay. A lot of text coming your way as you get to see further into the military headquarters.
