Xizoh was found as a young boy among a merchant ship in the city of Freeport. The boy's distant drow heritage left him with the gray skin similar to a fetchling, leading a local fetchling family to adopt him. It quickly became apparant to them he was no Fetchling, but they still absorbed him into their family.
The Shadelocks, his adopted family, educated him on some Fetchling traditions which he took to with great enthusiasm. His father had served as a doctor and repairman for merchant vessels, where the young half elf picked up his interest in medicine, and skill with wood. His brother had a tendency to brawl, and often need Xizoh to patch him up. His sister on the other hand often laughed, working as a barmaid in a local tavern.
He had barely began his apprenticeship to the local healer when his ancestral magic began to flare. Having grow up seeing how magic affected families, Xizoh had no desire to give more reasons for locals to distrust his family. Eventually, as his magic began to flare the boy found himself a traveling wizard who not only was willing to bind his magic, but would do so in exchange for some treatment for his old wounds. The deal was made, and both sides followed through.
For the next couple of months, all was well for Xizoh. His now absent magic mattered little to the boy, for the Shadelocks were his family, and more important than arcane arts, not to mention the binding of his magic had left him feeling rejuvenated and healthier than ever. He began to volunteer his healing skills at the local hospital, where disaster would strike.
A foreigner was brought in to be treated for a brutal mugging. Not long after treatment start she woke. The woman, in her injury induced haze, believed Xizoh to be her attacker, and blasted him with magic. Surprisingly, the magic failed to harm Xizoh, but did produce an effect. Scars and stitches growing across his body, his head began to glow as a large serpent crawled into reality, and assaulted the woman.
The peace loving, rather passive Xizoh found himself once again chained by magic. Wishing to avoid backlash for both him and his family, he fled Freeport to find a small hamlet where he would be sheltered from fighting and could heal as his wished. He hope, in time, to tame the monster he's called forth.
