Any good suggestions for a 6th level party? Our spellcasters are a Bard and a Ranger. I'm looking for anything in the form of a Wondrous Item or a scroll, something to be kept in our back pocket for when the tank is down, the caster is grappled, and we would very much like to leave.

Potion of Gaseous Form? No UMD needed, Keep on a bandoleer or Spring-loaded wrist sheaths.

Potions of Invisibility can work.

I was thinking of an item that would affect the entire party at once, but that's a good alternative.

The Exchange

Scroll of word of recall. (Assuming you can make the UMD check.)

UMD check DC 31 doesn't seem like a reliable option for a 6th level party...

A scroll of emergency force sphere is great for buying time. Can work on the entire party if they are huddled closely together. (I can imagine the bard or ranger standing over a fallen ally inside the field as they try to heal back up for round 2).

Dimension door is a decent escape spell as well.

You can activate blindly at DC25.

Alternatively the scroll of dimension door is a decent option but will only take 3 people.

Snapleaf? Immediate action invisibility and feather fall.

You could also check with your DM on obtaining scrolls written at a higher level, to try to get a Dim Door scroll that covers the group.

I've always been partial to the "Necklace-of-Fireballs-as-emergency-MIRV-grenade" trick, myself. When the tank is down and the caster is grappled, why run away when you can just blow everything up instead?

Wow, 750G for Immediate Action Invisibility for 5 minutes? Featherfall is just icing after that. As it's an immediate action, would a creature be able to activate it while it's not their turn when another gives the command to retreat? Most immediate actions require a triggering condition (which, for Featherfall, would be when you begin to fall).

Things I like. Some of these are to expensive still but worth considering in the future.

- Ring of Serene Contortions (true strike + grapple check)
- Aegis of Recovery
- Potion of Gaseous Form
- Jingasa of fortunate solider
- Fate's Shears
- Scroll of Mirror Image
- Mirror of Guarding Reflection
- Bead of Newt Prevention
- Volatile Vaporizer and a defensive potion (Invisibility)
- Boots of Escape
- Unfettered Shirt

Spells if you have them on your list.
- Vanish is a great level one spell if you have it on your list
- Darting duplicate
- Grace
- Windy Escape
- Jester's Jaunt

Yes at level 6 a reliable UMD is hard to find. I would have said a Scroll of Teleport or Recall. But 30+ UMD while something is trying to kill you is not the time to fail the check. With Potions anyone can use them.

Tho that Snapleaf item is pretty good. I had never seen it before...but will for sure start buying one on most my characters.
