I just want to doublecheck, because the retraining rules confuse me sometimes. I have a sword and board fighter with the Armor Master archetype who uses the Bodyguard feat. I've been underwhelmed with the amount of damage he deals, so I want to retrain him into a regular (no archetype) fighter. that way I'll get Weapon Training next level. He's currently 4th. Armor Master has swapped Bravery out for Deflective Shield.
So, this would cost me 5 prestige and 200gp, since I'm retraining out of one feature that the archetype granted?
If I decide I want a different archetype, then I would have to retrain again into that, correct?

You are indeed correct. Good luck with the retrain. Hope you can get your fighter to what you are looking for. Some builds look great on paper, but don't quite work as planned. I'd also recommend looking at the Weapon Master Handbook and Armor Master Handbook (when approved). Both have some great fighter options.

Thanks. I was waiting on the Armor Master's Handbook before making any decisions. I looked through it last night, and there are some good options. Vanguard Style fits well with the character, and I can't see any reason to think it won't be legal. Assuming Aromored Juggernaut makes it to legal, I could pick the DR Armor Master would have given me up at 7th.
Basically, I initially went a little over the top skewing the character towards Bodyguard and lending out AC. He does that very well. But he's only doing 1d8+10 with Power Attack and Weapon Specialization. Getting Weapon Training back won't fix that completely, but it will help. Especially when I can afford Gloves of Dueling. It also opens up the Advanced Weapon Training options. I've got the Dex for TWF if I decide to go that route. I didn't want to initially, but it is probably the quickest way to up DPR.
Anyway, retraining is the first step. Thanks for the help figuring it out!

10gp x 8lvl x 5x(Kinetic Chirurgery, Metahealer, Healing buffer)
so 10x8x15 = 1200gp, (15 days,) and 15 prestige points.
(To abandon an archetype, you must spend 5 days for every alternate class feature you already have from that archetype. At the end of the retraining, you lose the archetype’s class features and gain the standard class features for the class.)
