question about archetypes

if i take an archetype can i not take any more lvls in the archetype if i don't want to.

everything up to said point is great but if i take one more level in the archetype it will take something away that is too good to lose. am i stuck with losing that great skill because because i have to advance the lvl?

Archetypes apply to all levels of the class they modify.
You can't "multiclass" with the base class.
You can't not take abilities for that archetype.

Your only real options are to multiclass into a different class altogether, or retrain out of the archetype.

Yes, once you take the archetype that is your new version of the class and the original class and it's replaced abilities don't exist for you.
