Advice

for story reasons i would like to know if there is a way to mark a person as evil. even if the person is not evil it would set off a detect evil spell. while at the same time if a detect alignment spell where cast he would show up as his or her true alignment.

it would be the reason why he only has one lvl in a class. no one would teach a person marked as evil unless they were evil themselves.

for example a young aspiring apprentice wizard was caught studying the forbidden manuscripts of a long dead necromancer. was caught then magically branded and banished from the school of magic. he would go to other schools to learn more but because of the brand he is turned away. and he won't except training from "unlicensed"(because i can't think of the right word) teachers because they are most likely evil masters that will tempt him to the dark side. so he continues with his life as something else while using what small amount of knowledge he gained to help in his new line of work.

is there a trait or something that would work?

The Malefiction spell would probably do it. Consigning the apprentice's soul to Hell might be a but much though.

The Foul Brand drawback sounds more appropriate, though the exact effect isn't quite what you've asked for.

You could always just go with something like Brand?
It doesn't mark them as evil, but it could be a commonly known brand that all the wizard schools know?
