Weapon Property - Transformative

Liberty's Edge

What are the advantages of this? I think I am not quite understanding its purpose

Change your weapon to bypass DR slash/bludg/pierce, switch between a polearm or two-handed sword depending on whether you want reach or not.

Plus, it's a cool ability.

It's a cool idea in theory but in my experience some DMs rather dislike it and will rule that a weapon can not change size or type quite like that.

Had a GM rule that a transformative glaive we found in game couldn't turn into a rapier to actually be usable by one of the PCs.

*shrug* GMs can change any rule they like, but the ability is pretty clear that you can transform into a weapon of the same 'handed-ness'/size and even gives examples about transforming a 'keen' slashing weapon into a bludgeoning weapon and losing the keen ability.

Liberty's Edge

OK, I think I see it better now. The weapon in question was a transformative greatsword, so it could become anything in the two handed category. I am the GM for the character in question.

The glaive thing isn't the dm's rule, it's right in the ability.

"For example, a Medium transformative longsword can take the shape of any other Medium one-handed melee weapon, such as a scimitar, flail, or trident, but not a Medium light or two-handed melee weapon (such as a Medium short sword or a Medium greatsword). " So a 2h glaive can't change to a 1h rapier.

I plan on getting it added to a weapon we found, since 10k for transformative is cheaper than getting an entirely new +3 weapon.

Should note too that you can cross size classes - for example, transformative greatsword can become a large sized one-handed weapon.

Yeah, it's a cool ability though it takes a standard action to change your weapon, so it's not something you want to do a lot in combat.
