Urban Hunter Advice, Please

Hell's Rebels

What I am mainly looking for is things to beware of and trap choices, especially from those who have played at least through the first book. My current idea is a human with a ram. He is a bounty hunter by trade and is a Fed-Up Citizen. I will likely be taking Eye for Talent and Totem Beast. I will be joining an existing group that has reached second level.

I would probably recommend being able to give bonuses to your companions over having an animal companion for Hunter' Bond. Without revealing too many spoilers this campaign is going to include cramped and wet environments to the point that there will be times when a pet ram is just about worthless.

This is a strong archetype for this game however, especially if the group needs someone who can deal with traps and locks and is better at going toe to toe with foes than a rogue.

I'd also recommend giving some care to being able to disarm or sunder weapons. You will face many humanoids and there will be times when you want to force a retreat or surrender so not as to have to deal with bodies.

I do believe that you have mistaken an Urban Hunter with an Urban Ranger. I feel that I should also point out that the ram starts small and only goes to medium.

Your first link there leads to the wizard school Evocation, Nohwear. I don't really have much to contribute otherwise, as I have no familiarity with the hunter, but will echo Shaun in saying that the Urban Ranger is a fantastic choice for HR. Despite the 5 year gap in publication the archetype feels like it was designed for the path.

Do return in some months time to tell us how your hunter and ram handled the Ruby Masquerade though. I want to hear what expensive custom designed mask you bought for your sheep. I suggest dressing it in wolf's clothing.

Oops. Well, my advice still stands for the pet. You will spend a significant amount of time in this AP in the water. Shooting and having your animal trying to swim around to fight is gonna suck.

He could just go as a shepherd and have his pet be part of the costume...

Mechanically speaking I think the previous responses tackled the main problem. Thematically speaking I found your choice of profession odd. I mean why would a rebellious, fed-up citizen work for the government by chasing wanted criminals?

He was a supporter of the old government, but the new one has gone too far. I guess it would be better to say that he was a bounty hunter.
