Hi, I am looking for some work throughout the next few months and wanted to just post on here so all could see. I would prefer $0.02 per edited word at least.
I have pretty extensive knowledge of the Pathfinder system and am willing to write just about anything. My specialties are smaller projects such as magic items, feats, class features, talents, etc. I can also manage short campaigns and classes (base, hybrid, alternate, etc.)
If you would like to recruit me for a project, please message me and I would be more than happy to prove my skills either with previous work or your own personal test.

It might behoove you to list your previous works or name (if you are comfortable with that) so people can look it up.
Sure. My name is Sean. As for previous work experience I don't have any working with other 3PP, except for one that was just starting out. I had a falling out with the guy in charge there. I have mostly worked on personal projects; some of which I have posted on the forums here.

@BigP4anda:
One word of advice, if I may. You will have much better chances getting a job if you directly contact a publisher with a detailed, well-crafted pitch that suits the respective company's standards (and product-lines). If you have worked on personal projects, please link to them; provide a sample of your work. Good design is both craftsmanship and artistry and there are wide differences in capability and skillsets among designers. Class-design requires different skills than adventure-writing, for example.

As well, look out for opportunities here. Many studios post looking for writers here. I hate to say it, but .02 a word might be rare for a beginner. One cent a word is more common for smaller publishers and many pay on "the back end" where you get a percentage of sales instead. This is not, sadly, a money producing field.

I would recommend, like the illustrious Endzeitgeist says, contact publishers directly. This forum has a great thread Third-Party Publishers: Freelancer Open Call where publishers can post job opportunities for freelancers.
And ah, if you don't have publisher works a name won't help much XD
But yeah- when you are knew it's a best to include some links to existing materiel you've written as personal projects. That's how a lot of folks get started (for example- that's how we hired Christos Gurd).
Best of luck!

Swords for Hire Development, for example, is right now looking for writers to pitch for our Villain Codex III. Feel free to send us up to three ideas if you're interested.
Contests are a fun way to get going in game design; it's how I got my start and part of why I like giving back to the community by running more contests.

Everything that everyone suggested is right on point. The best way to get noticed is to do something on your own give it away for free and listen to what people say about it GOOD and BAD. That alone will give you a MAJOR leg up over many other newbies. Good luck.

Is 0.02c per word editing or creativity a good rate?
Decent? I mean that's $40 for 2,000 words. That's for our industry- I wouldn't suggest holding any other industry to that standard. We pay pretty poorly as an industry (due to the size and price points people are willing to pay). It typically ranges from like $0.01-$0.03 for typical freelancers .01 being below what I would pay ever but I've seen it offered for like first timers, .02 being an average designer with little experience, .03 for a seasoned one. I've seen higher pay rates for bigger names. I've also seen publishers tack on a % of royalties for a set period of time as well sometimes when they couldn't pay up front (Like .02 + 25% royalties for 6 months or whatever). It really varies publisher to publisher- try to work in their budgets. Like I know we've done like 0.03 but capped it at like $60 so they wouldn't go over the 2k word count we needed.
