One free feat chain

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

If you could have a single free feat tree (One feat, along with all prerequisite and derivative feats, each feat gained as soon as you qualified for them), what feat chain would you choose, and what sort of character build would you put it on? Who would benefit the most from this sort of chaining, who would benefit the least?

Example:
If a Barbarian 1 chose Greater Grapple as their feat, they would get Improved Unarmed Strike and Improved Grapple at level 1. They would not get Greater Grapple until level 6, and would not get Sleeper Hold or Pinning Rend until later levels. They would not get Neckbreaker unless they took Stunning Fist, Jawbreaker, and Bonebreaker independently.

Grand Lodge

Probably the Dirty Trick line of feats.

Hm.

I can imagine most monks wanting the Dimensional Dervish feats free, what with Abundant Step and all. It takes a while to come on, of course, but who hasn't ever wanted to tell an enemy that he's completely surrounded ... by you, on your own, and with two flanking bonuses to prove it?

The TWF line is probably going to see a lot of demand too, both from the Remington lift-and-cut types as well as the sword-and-board crowd.

Aren't there feat chains involved with archery?

Oh, something not to do with beating things up ... School Focus (conjuration) to Augment Summons to something else. (OK, it's to do with making other things beat things up.)

Would the armour proficiencies count as a 'tree'?

Heavy depends on you having Medium and Light, no?

Yes, they do. Just trying to avoid being abusive or anything like that, since if memory serves the only requirements to clank around in full plate are those three proficiencies, enough Str to lug around fifty pounds of steel, 1,500 gold pieces, and four minutes a day every morning with your squire.

Depends on the character.

I would love to have the new Blinded Blade Style on pretty much any character though.

A Feat chain that gives you Blindsight? Yes thanks.

You might want to limit these feat trees to one feat and its prerequisites, rather than including "derivative feats." If picking Greater Grapple will eventually get you Sleeper Hold and Pinning Rend because they have it as a prerequisite, you could get an absurdly large list of feats by picking something incredibly basic - say, Power Attack.

I'm relying upon uncommon sense to moderate your answers.

I wouldn't mind free access to the Cleave line for a reach-focused dwarf barbarian or bloodrager.

Iron will-Familiar Bond-Improved Familiar Bond. Then I can have a druid with two pets.

Well, I don't know about a feat chain, but our group uses:

I really like the Moonlight Stalker feat line.
