Per level abilities that don't specify class and multiclassing

Rules Questions

I'm mostly sure that if an ability says its power increases "per level" it refers to levels in that class even if it doesn't explicitly specify.

But I can't actually find this in the rules anywhere, so I wonder if I'm wrong here, as the CRB's entry on advancing and multiclassing only says that most class abilities are dependent on class levels. Which seems to imply that class abilities that don't call out class levels would be multiclassing friendly?

Looking for a definitive ruling, if anyone has one.

It's the other way around; 'most abilities are dependent on class levels' implies that is the base assumption and you have to specifically call out being dependent on character level/HD instead.

That's how I'm interpreting it right now Ian, but it just seems strange the most abilities say" for every [class] level " and then some just say "every level" so I wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing or not. Woulda been easier if they'd just said "all" and called out specific exceptions.

All class abilities are written from the perspective of a single classed character. It saves words to write "per level" instead of "per class level".

The assumption is, unless explicitly stated as based on character level/HD or called out as stacking, class abilities based on level are specifically based on levels in that class only.
