Poisons and Splash Weapons

Rules Questions

Can poisons be used on splash weapons? (And on alchemist bombs?)

"One dose of poison smeared on a weapon or some other object affects just a single target. A poisoned weapon or object retains its poison until the weapon scores a hit or the object is touched (unless the poison is wiped off before a target comes in contact with it).

Applying poison to a weapon or single piece of ammunition is a standard action. "

Seems like it might work but only apply to the target, not delivering poison with the splash?

Also, from that reading, could you apply poison to a ray attack from a spell you had cast?

technically you can apply to splash weapon but it would only work on the main person hit.
the problem with alchemist bombs, and ray attacks is the weapon doesn't exist long enough to poison (until you can poison as an instant action).
but ray spells really shouldn't work on the rule of "obviously nothing to poison" so i wouldn't count on ever doing that

By instant action I assume you mean swift?

You can perform one or more free actions while taking another action normally.

You can take a swift action anytime you would normally be allowed to take a free action.
