Judgement Casting

Rules Questions

Does the Judgement domain allow casting of spells longer than a standard action? Can you use it to, say, stick a Geas/Quest on someone?

The balance of law is paramount to you, and you ensure that transgressions are punished appropriately.

Associated Domain: Law.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the touch of law ability of the Law domain.

Chastisement (Su)

As a standard action, you can cast a strengthened spell against a creature that damaged you since your last turn. This spell must target the creature that damaged you, and is cast at +1 caster level. Area of effect spells cannot be used in conjunction with this ability, but other spells that target multiple creatures may be. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Replacement Domain Spells: 2nd—castigate, 4th—rebuke, 5th—mark of justice.

By RAW, I'd say so. Another ability in this vein is Warpriest's Fervor which certainly can be used to cast long casting time spells in a shorter action. Fervor places a 1 Round or less limit which Chastisment does not include. This says to me that you can cast anything, including Geas, as long as it targets the creature that damaged you and is not an AoE.

As to what should probably happen in a game: On one hand, this allows you to apply Marks of Justice on criminals in the heat of battle, which is super cool and probably the intended use. On the other hand, the fewer ways to cast Geas as a standard action, the better.

I agree with DM. It appears that it should work; however I wouldn't allow it to.

Fervor got errata limiting it to standard or less spells. This ability probably deserves the same treatment. But for the time being I'd say the combo does technically work.
