Thank so much, everyone! I go in tomorrow morning at 5 am. Which probably means 3 hours of waiting before it actually happens... LOL I should be home by Wednesday afternoon and I'll let everyone know how things went.

Does top of the page still mean one’s clothes are on backward? Because that could explain the testicular torsion.

For backwards clothes?!?? :/

New message indicators are operational. It's a red dot on the My Account icon.

*points a red laser pointer at John* Ha!

Heh. My big toe aches from time to time because I broke it (without realizing it) about five or six years ago.

So what's the read on PF2 in this thread?

JUST saw that note when I logged in tonight,

Interesting. I'm not immediately in love with the idea, (Having been around since 1st Ed D&D) but I dont hate it either. :)

Honestly, I hope I like it. Every game I've played I have liked something about, and not liked others. PF is no exception. Hopefully they will manage to improve things in enjoyable ways. I'm willing to give it a try.

Heck, I moved from DD3.5 to PF with only minor spell-burns. ;P

I'm pretty sure moving might only give me a spellblight, minor.

Blogpost regarding the 2nd edition (mostly informative, no big musings from me).

I can't help be but incredibly meh about PF2e.

I've already spent way too much on PF Classic to want to jump ship and reinvent the wheel, but I can see why they felt the need to do it. Ten years of splatbooks nets a lot of unwieldy stuff to keep track of and can intimidate newcomers.

As is, I really only look at their stories. Lore is useless since my primary group runs in a homebrew setting, and there's nothing I actually need that's not in an AP to keep my training wheels group in the story, and I already have all the mechanics I really need.

So...really, all that's changed for me with all the new stuff is...the forum is still weird. shrug

Silver Crusade

Curious. I’ll wait to see more on 2e before rendering judgment.

I too am interested.

A lot can go wromg here, though.

Ha ha! Awesome.

From Jason's initial blog, I am unexcited about elimination of Initiative, jazzed about having 3 actions and elimination of action types (not that it's going to be more realistic, but I think it will lead to faster and funner gameplay), and revamping of magic items to eliminate the everlasting +1 chasing and hopefully make them fun again.

However, I don't have any money at all for a new system, so there's that...

I am worried about realism in a fantasy game though, as a broad topic. Like you, I would be more interested in a game being fun. I guess I need to see the finished product.

I can't count the number of times the action economy has tripped me up, needing to do 3 things and only able to do 2, so backing off to 1 so as not to get in easy range of the enemy. Ugh. Very unrealistic and not at all heroic!

I'll try their play test, I'll keep an eye out for the previews, and I might get it when it comes out.

But I'm not excited for it (mostly because I like Pathfinder as is) and I'm definitely not all in like I am for Starfinder, and I won't hesitate to drop Pathfinder 2 if I don't like it.

PF being mostly compatible with 3.5 is what got me to stick with it.

I'm mostly with Scint, with the addition of a hope that 3PPs will be able to keep PF Classic alive with new material.

That and hoping the process of reverse engineering PF2 APs to PF Classic is not too headache inducing.

3PPs are kind of irrelevant for my stance.

As it is, between our group, we own enough AP/module content to run games at our group's normal pace for a decade. That doesn't count the multiple ideas for homebrew campaigns we've mentioned to each other. Even if Paizo never again publishes an adventure that intrigues me (which is unlikely - story is their strength), it will in no way impede my hobby.

Yeah, my only pathfinder sub is the Adventure Path for a reason. :-)

By the way Orthos, I love how you refer to it as Pathfinder Classic, I am totally adopting that! Thanks!

Thank lisamarline, she came up with it when she referred to PF2 as New Coke.

While I don't disagree, there is something to new material being made newly available that invigorates the game system beyond just having available content. Otherwise, save the most die-hard enthusiasts, it eventually atrophies away from the public consciousness.

Paizo and PF Classic are really the only reasons 3.5 style content is still around. 4e is utterly absent from the internet save for enthusiast communities, because no one is doing anything with the system, even if there is sufficient material extant for fans to work with.

I should like to be able to not say the same about PF Classic in three or four years once PF2 has its feet on the ground.

4e doesn't even sell anymore. There's one Comic/game store that has them at 50% off. And they won't move at even that price.

Thanks for all the good vibes and well wishes regarding my stent placement surgery yesterday morning. All went well and I feel pretty good. They didn't even put me under for it and I got to lay there and listen to all kinds of medical jargon that meant nothing at all to me and was out of the OR in less than 30 minutes. As a matter of course they kept me overnight for observation, but I'm home now. And I swear that this new hospital gets their nurses from fashion magazines and they're all extremely nice and helpful with any questions or concerns I had.

Regarding the upcoming 2nd Edition of Pathfinder; I don't know how the rest of the group feels but I won't be investing in it. While I wish Paizo success with the new endeavor I personally have put in too much time and money in the current version to even think about switching, no matter what changes or improvements they might make to the game. And John Reyst over at d20pfsrd.com has assured me that the PF Classic pages of the website will remain up even after PF2e comes out, provided of course they still use the Open Gaming License to allow sites to post their material.

Be careful, my friend. Your body has been through a shock.

I'm cool with Pathfinder Classic since it's a classic and we don't know much about 2nd edition yet.

Also I'm wondering if driving a half hour up and a half hour down for gaming on alternate Saturdays will put an undue stress on my car...

But meh.

Freehold DM wrote:

Thank you! I'm certainly going to try. In fact I've lost 23 pounds in the last 2 months alone, something that is long overdue.

An hour's worth of driving shouldn't be too tough on a car, unless it's held together with band aids and rubber bands (like mine is). I have 4 players who regularly drive 2.5 hours one way to come to my sessions.

I'm very glad that everything went well, Cal.

Thomas Seitz wrote:

Depends on how fast you drive.:-)

Congrats on the successful operation, Cal. Ever hear Cosby's routine on that situation?

Doctor: Sponge. Scalpel. Oops.

Cosby. Oops!? Whaddya you mean, oops?!

I lost a few pounds a while back. Then I found 'em again. :-(

So Scint has convinced me to put my money where my whining mouth is and try to publish some stuff for PF (Classic, when it becomes such). I just have no earthly idea how to even begin such a thing. Anyone here more enlightened?

+1. Keep safe out there, friend.

Thank you, everyone! I'm pretty amazed at how much differently I feel now that stent placement has been done. My chest was really hurting over the weekend and now it's just fine.

I generally drive between 80 and 85 when going up to Waynesburg, PA...mostly because it's Waynesburg. :p

I guess I'm mostly just miffed because I had THOUGHT this gaming group thing would take off more than it has...and the fact one of my client is very...protective of their 20 year old child driving to Radford VA.

Glad your feeling better Cal!

Fun fact, I used to work for an AV company, which means that I got to work a lot of medical conventions, and the eternal debate between the 'Surgeons' and the 'Stents' was,... entertaining. :)

At one conference, we live-televised various procedures from around the world to the 20K+ audience, one guy getting a stent was laying on the table, singing Opera while they did the procedure. ;P

Heh. PF Classic.
Yep, that's a keeper. :)

(Both literally and figuratively, in my case!) ;P

I'm exited about the possibilities, just like when I was a kid and 2e, then 3e came out.

I am,... easily amused at times, but it amuses me to see how up in arms some people get about certain new editions of their favorite game, While other games (that I also play and like) have gone through I dunno how many editions with nary a whisper. ;P

If you like the 'Classic' version, great! if you like the new version, Bonus! :)

(I still use my era-1980's Champions rulebooks) :)

I'm mostly just, curious. I like learning new systems, playing with power combos, etc, etc.

Sometimes I think I like CREATING new PC's more than playing them.

NAAHHHHHHH! ;P

I was perfectly quiet. I didn't want to distract someone poking around in my chest.

I'll go through the playtest. I'll give 2nd edition a fair chance. If I don't like it, I'll go back to Classic Pathfinder. Worst case, I'll hang up my dice bag. But I really don't want to do that.

Alright, I did some reading through the forums last night, primarily all the FAQs listed in Liz's profile. Seems I mainly need to get a good grasp on OGL and Section 15, and then email Paizo and sign a contract with them to put stuff on their store. All things considered far simper than I'd originally expected.

Which means we can focus on really doubling-down on that outline.

Yep, And seeing if we can convince our artist friend to help out with her talents.

I'll buy whatever it is you are selling.

So will I.

I hung up my dice bag for a year once. It was right after my breakdown and I just couldn't function well enough to play. I didn't realize how much I both missed and needed the interaction between myself and my friends until I picked it back up. So don't hang up your dice bag, John! Never give up! Never surrender!

PF classic forever! Or at least until I'm convinced Pf 2nd isn't 4th edition D&D...

This is my greatest fear. All this talk of simplicity and streamlining I associate with a lack of versatility. If I can't create the character concepts I envision, what's the point in playing.
