Because they're one of the last two bands on my bucket list to see before I die. And they're on their farewell tour and there are no American tour dates. Anyone who gets to see them and I don't I'm intensely jealous of.. lol

I manage to see one every year or at least every other year, usually thanks to friends or family who pay for my ticket and go with me to help keep my anxiety levels down. This year I've seen Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden.

~shrugs~ Between dealing with Mom's fourth bout of cancer, possible loss of job after over 17 years, 10 hours of overtime last week, two kittens, and other "Life, the Universe, and everything" issues, I have not had too much time to work on updating my resume. Having said that, both the Wife and my Mom are starting to nag... ~gets whacked across the head~ Sorry! Sorry! It is constructive prodding... They have been constructively prodding me about that.
Oh yes. I am also on my 11th callout for the weekend. So it has been busy here.
Oh, and I did do the stuff related to the possible job loss issue on Saturday.

~shrugs~ 20+ people are getting laid off due to tech change reasons in Atlanta. I live in Savannah Georgia, so someone with more seniority can bump me out of my job. It is not quite that easy, but it could happen.

Hey, everyone. I know it's just a couple of weeks before my first anniversary here on the forums, but it's close enough. So I'd like to say a few things before I forget them. First off, I'm glad to have survived my first year on the forums, even if it's mostly just listening to others. I'd like to think that I've become a better Human Being just by listening to others with differing viewpoints and opinions. And I'd like to think that I've grown wiser in the process.
I'd like to thank everyone for being kind, caring, and compassionate towards me, a near total stranger. Not just about my recently diagnosed tumor, but everything else. Including my (still) unresolved grieving over the 1997 suicide of a brother. It means a lot to me, possibly more than anyone will ever know. Likewise, I've also shared in your joys and sorrows.
Each and every one of you, on this thread and others, has become like family to me, and I love you all. And this year, I'll not let my Birthday slip by without telling anyone.

Usually I just go to the big concerts that other people want to see. I've seen Johnny Cash and Blondie with my mom, and Jimmy Buffet with my husband (it was his birthday present, and I worked overtime for three weeks to get the tickets). And for another oh his birthdays, Mark Knopfler. That was the one I enjoyed the most.
But I *desperately* wanted to see Leonard Cohen before he died, and every time he came through town, I couldn't afford it.

We didn't hardly get any rain from the hurricane, but now the next one might be heading our way.
At least the two storms came Before and After my daughters B-day (and Bday party), instead of ON it as they have done oh so many times in the past! :P
(When your kid is born on Aug 30, and you live in Lousy-anna, Having a Hurricane party instead of a Bday party is a risk you take.) ;)

Then I pick up my apartment keys (hopefully!) that afternoon after work. Then early Saturday I drive to BWI, fly to Boston, take a bus to the Cape, get picked up, pick up my mail, pick up my moving van, pack my things , collect my pooch, drive down to Alexandria, set up my new apartment and visit with my old college buddy

My travel times were driving a box truck without an EZ-Pass. Tacks on a disgusting amount of time for that entire stretch of tolled I-95 (Boston all the way south to Baltimore) at the commercial truck rates (which were higher than they are for cars). Between the tolls and the ridiculous number of weigh stations ... blecch.

My buddy actually volunteered to come help me. He lives in Charlotte NC, and I am psyched to see him. It's been 27 years since we met in the flesh. I have very good friends ;)
Speaking of good friends, just hooked up with an old Army buddy who is currently the Director of Public Affairs for the USDA (!!). We had a few drinks at Capitol City brewery. Which was quite nice. They had a lovely amber ale
