Yeah. I did eight, then I had to go waaaay up Cape to get my fingerprints did, and I had to go straight after to work, where I did 16 hours. So it was like 32 hrs up. Plus dealing with a sh!tty situation in one of my games with a player who decided I was an 'old-school OD&D sh!t" and decided to rant at me for the teremity of not knowing a fine rules point in the Stealth rules. Then I had six hours down, and here I am for another 16. Oh, and I have to go to Boston tomorrow to get sworn in as a notary public. So, yay.

Tomb of Horrors! Tomb of Horrors! Tomb of Horrors!
Or just mention Grimtooth.

Yeah,...
And I'm honestly not sure which one would be scarier to run into. :/

I see weird things at night, just out of the corner of my eye. Huge, long flapping wings. Tawny shapes that leap straight up low bluffs. Long, low things that streak across the road ahead. Things with green eyes, puffy butts, and big, fluffy tails like snow leopards.
I think the wings are owls. Honestly not sure about the rest.
Ok, that all sounds kind of freaky.

Wow, are you serious? That ... certainly is a s!%*ty situation. I'll refrain from what I was going to add.
I reckon some games could use MORE 'old-school OD&D' stuff myself...

Yup.
Not pleased. Not in the least. I'm trying to let it slide past, but the sheer Pis$iness of it is still mind-boggling me. It was if I had invited a friend over for dinner, cooked an elaborate meal for them then gotten yelled at because the recipe wasn't quite correct. I came within an inch of closing the whole game, I was so angry.

Several weeks ago I pulled a tendon in my right elbow. For weeks I lived with some pretty bad pain. Finally, last week it began to let up and yesterday was the first pain free day I'd had with it since it happened. So I was feeling pretty jazzed that it was finally healed.
Then somehow my arm became trapped between the wall and the bed in my sleep and it's right back where it started. I can barely type or text using my right hand because the pain extends all the way down into my fingers.
Dammit.

I made a decision a long time ago that it was not worth my time or effort to play RPGs with people that I didn’t see eye to eye with or who had a very different perspective from me on what was the ‘right’ way to play; which is the main reason now for pbp games that I never do open recruitment and rarely apply to open recruitment games (unless I already know the DM and most of the players who are likely to apply). I realise that limits my exposure to different people and styles and creates a bit of a closed system where the idea that my way is ‘right’ gets reinforced … but man, it cuts down on the drama, and that horrible feeling when you realise your game has become a chore rather than a pleasure.
I’ve shut down games I was running in the past due to one or two problem players (note: not the reason I walked away from pbp and the boards a few years ago, those issues were mainly all mine – this goes back to years earlier) – it’s probably not a very mature way to do things and definitely not fair to the non-problem players, but it’s still better than investing time and effort into running a game and getting served s@#$ for it.

I so very, very rarely have a new player join my games I'm not sure how I would handle it. One of my long time player's 11 year old daughter recently joined and despite her inexperience she's a great player. And an old friend from back in the day just rejoined us after moving back into the area, so that took a little getting used to, but she's fallen right back into place.
But a brand new adult player? I'd have a break down.

It seems like not so long ago (but is probably about ten years ago by now ... wow, time flies) that I was the new player to this particular group, most of whom had been playing together for, I don't know, 15+ years.
They had a very stringent process for screening new players; I had met a couple of the guys in the group on two previous occasions (meetups of local Paizo people at the pub) before they invited me to join ... but before that invitation was totally solid I had to meet (and be 'approved by') the other members of the group at another two separate meet-ups (both also at pubs ... yes, a theme is developing) before I was actually invited to a game.
Since then the group has unfortunately lost one member to cancer and another few to much less tragic circumstances (moving, other commitments, loss of interest). We've been trying to find new members, but it seems like the approval process has become a lot less stringent ... or maybe I just seemed extra shifty at the time.

Yeah, I had thought open recruitment might be a cool thing, but it obviously was not. It'll be invite-only from this point on. It's sad when a game that has been going on for almost ten years has suddenly lost its joy.
Yeah, sucks man. If it is just the one offending player can you kick them?

I'm giving it a week. I'm going to be on vacation, so my posting is going to slow dramatically anyway. If at the end of that time I still can't get past the incident I'm going to have to consider what to do.
So, I decided to clear the matter up before I go on vacation. I don't want this negativity hanging around all week. Better to rip the bandaid off quickly and get it over. I know my mind. I'm not going to suddenly forget the insults.

I awoke at 2:40 am to take the dogs for a walk (one is on medication and has to be walked more often than normal). But the intense pain in my knee has kept me from going back to sleep so here I sit, listening to Van Halen I (their best album. Don't argue because you'll be wrong ;) ) and trying to relax enough to fall back to sleep.
