On a happier, yet terrifying note....
My application to the FTC has been tentatively approved! Basically what this means is I have the job, pending a security check and filling out a few forms. The pay is good, it is now just a waiting period while my bona fides are scrutinized.
So, it looks if all goes well, and if I pass the security screening (please don't obsess on my credit rating..please don't obsess on my credit rating..) I should be in DC by the end of August!

Congratulations on making it this far and good luck on the rest! Having your bona fides scrutinized sounds uncomfortable. Do you have to turn your head and cough?

I had my first session with a personal trainer today. People say you're supposed to feel energized after a workout. I just want to collapse on the couch with a pint of Ben and Jerry's.
Yeah I am scaling back my heavy duty workouts been sucking too much energy away from me lately. Time it seems has finally caught up with me... :-(

Good day, and welcome to Day One of Operation Oh S@#@, This Is Actually Happening.
Operational plan for Operation OSTIAH
Find a place to live
Sort and pack my junk (heh heh ..you said junk)
Start collecting decent work clothes
DC area, huh? I think I still know people who live around those parts. My eldest brother did, for few years at least. As I recall, he lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland. And one of my long time friends lived somewhere around there before moving to Florida. Not long after I left Philly, one of my old co-workers moved down to the DC area to work at the Washington Navy Yard. I think he still lives there.

John and I were talking about places we might live when we are finally fed up with the cost of living in NY (which may come sooner rather than later) and Maryland/DC was brought up as a possibility. Mostly because my boss keeps saying he wants to put a financial advisory rep in our company's Bethesda office. But housing isn't that much cheaper there than it is here. Maybe a little. We shall see.

If all else fails, you could always move back to Rochester. I mean, it's not like they've got a shortage of vacant houses. And stores. And municipal buildings. Actually, just about everything other than "pollution," "urban decay," and "the color brown."

Just got back from the Doctor's, and I've got good news. This type of tumor is one that responds best to radiation. So, no chemo for me. And no being sick from it. No definite date for the surgery, as the required endoscope is in a different hospital. Going to have a pointed, directed conversation with Corporate's Benefits department. The Hospital says that the Insurance provider says I have no insurance. If so, why is it still being deducted from my pay? I will find out. Oh, yes I will.

I feel like that first sentence was used in an ad by their chamber of commerce at one point.
