making a house a holy place ?

Advice

is there any spell 3.5 or pathfinder that a 7th level cleric could cast to make a home a holy place to possibly negate a curse that might be there ?

Hallow

but does it count as holy or is it technically the same thing and would it prevent you from getting a curse ?

Depends on the curse. Dracula was created in the castle chapel according to Mr Ford Coppola.

Mummies can be created in temples.

Lycanthrope can infect you in a temple.

Yeah, we need to know the context. As it is, the only option is Hallow for permanent holiness and Consecrate for (lower-level) temporary holiness. Beyond that... what are you asking about, specifically?

its a curse that makes parents abusive to children so not sure if its a gm curse or an actual curse.

Spellcraft and detect magic or identify might give you more information on the curse and any means to dispel it. Other knowledge skills might help as well, history for the source of the curse etc.

Most commonly Remove Curse is used to get rid of curses.

Hallow might be necessary if it is a special gm requirement to get rid of this curse, working more like a haunt than a traditional curse, but it equally could be something else. That is where the above research comes in.

Making a place holy, or unholy does not affect a pre-existing curse... especially not unique ones.

The characters need to research the curse and find the unique methods of lifting it.

ok thanks for the help ive never come across curses or potentially cursed places before so liking the info im getting my cleric will have a lot of research to do.

Assuming Remove Curse fails, I would follow up with Divination to get a clue to the nature of the curse and how you might go about removing it.

If it comes down to it, Hallow wouldn't get rid of this particular curse, but it has a good chance of suppressing its effect on anyone in the area, because it wards them all with Protection from Evil, which negates any attempted mental control from an evil source. A curse causing parents to be abusive to their children certainly seems like it could fit the bill, and a Hallow spell would be a thematic and (hopefully) permanent solution.

Finally, consider trying Speak with Haunt if the story seems to be heading in that direction. It's worth a shot, and its not like there's much to lose.

gm said it wasn't a haunt.
