What happens to a mage's mansions food?

I was reading over the description and I noticed the mansion has enough food "to serve a nine-course banquet to a dozen people per caster level" and can last nearly 2 day's for a 20th level caster. So I'm wondering what happens to this food?

1) There's always enough hot, tasty food to serve a 9 course banquet to a dozen people per caster level.

2) There's enough hot, tasty food to serve a 9 course banquet to a dozen people per caster level but after an hour or two its gone cold and there's a skin on the soup.

3) There's enough hot, tasty food to serve a 9 course banquet to a dozen people per caster level. Its always in the same condition as if it were just prepared but once eaten its gone.

4) Something else?

I'm hoping its not 2 because well picture your favorite food after its been sitting out on the table for 30 hours.

I'd say 3, personally. It's magic, and the spell doesn't say otherwise.

Agreed 3)
1) is clearly wrong as it would enable you to feed more than the 12/CL/day.
2) is clearly wrong as it makes no sense, why would 7th level magic not be able to keep the food fresh? or prepare it as required?

3. Because it's quantum food, it doesn't exist until you want it (and anything you don't eat goes away until you next want food). It doesn't just all appear at once, at the beginning of the spell's duration and sit around for the entire time, distracting people with it's yummy smell when they're trying to sleep or pray or research spells.

3)

I can work with 3 thanks.
