I'd switch your Str and Con around but otherwise he seems fine. A Paladin Rogue multiclass is weird but whatever. Now the group sound like a bunch of jerks and somewhat stupid. You need two things in a group, a medic to heal the party and keep them up and someone able to disarm magical locks and traps. You lack one or the other the party won't survive unless the DM is super nice. I have seen parties killed because they couldn't disarm traps. One trap set of by some sword wielding fighter can kill a party instantly. Plus it alerts every monster in the dungeon.
Now the biggest problem at the start of every adventure is why are the PCs together. That is usually the job of the DM not the players. Now most DMs allow players to come up with a reason, example family if playing same race and general theme. As far as adventuring party theme that develops later after a few levels or doesn't. Ran adventures where the party was very different having no reason to be together except adventure and gather fortune and fame.

They wanted a bard to buff their melee toons and you brought in a genine skill monkey face character.
Color me amused.
I'd almost suggest sticking it to them by rerolling a vanilla half-elven bard,,,, Dervish Dancer! So your bardsong is twice as strong but only buffs you. Then watch their expressions.

Agreed that the rest of the group expected him to play a bard to buff their melee chars and instead he went with a pure face char.
I love your suggestion with a new character. People should not expect others to play a character that only makes their own toon shine brighter.
