I have a character concept...based heavily on the Bene Gesserit from DUNE.
Mesmerist (heavy focus on enchantment, especially charm, suggestion, command etc).
But I wanted to get a bit of the almost "monk like" combat skill in there as well. She's not meant to be front line melee....just wanted her to be able to surprise people with grapples and unarmed strikes when the occasion arises.
My original thought was to throw two levels of Brawler into the mix (taking Magical Knack trait to keep CL up)
I'm now looking at the Vexing Daredevil archytype...and considering taking that as well....but I'm really not sure about the loss of Bold Stare ???
I can see some of the Dazzling feint abilities as tying in nicely with the two levels of brawler (Combat maneuver, Outmaneuver, etc)
Am I giving up to much (delayed class progression and bold stare) to get a few situational abilities for the sake of flavor ?

I think for a more accurate repsonse, this might have to go in the Suggestions/House Rules/Homebrew section.
You seem to have a character concept already thought of, and ultimately what matters is that you have fun with your character. This character concept looks pretty flavorful, and if you are worried about OPTIMIZATION vs Flavor, than that is your answer right there.
There is no right or wrong, and especially with what you are trying to accomplish it seems that dipping twice into brawler seems like the appropriate choice.
However, allow to me state this:
Not being a full bab class, grapple checks are going to be rough.
Being proficient with only light armor, means that you might take a good womping when you go to unarmed strike/grapple someone.
The way this class excels at dealing damage, is utilizing high Charimsa to pull of a good feint.

I'm more looking for advice on if I'm spreading myself to thin....
although I am first and foremost interested in concept and role play....I don't want to be a burden to the other players by being so handicapped I'm useless.
I'm most concerned about opinions on the loss of bold stares....
Especially If I'm loosing it for something I will always be terrible at successfully landing in the first place (like a combat maneuver).
Do you more or less have to be a full BA class....with a big feat investment...to land combat maneuvers ?
