So here's the thing...
I'm looking to start the Crypt of the Everflame pathfinder module with my daughter(aged 7/8) and anyone else I can rope in. We've roleplayed a bit before but this will be her first foray into grown up stuff.
I want to include a GMPC/NPC that can help out occasionally with directions/advice... and so that I can do silly voices.
One idea was for he/she/it to be a melee based character that fights quick, defensively and uses combat maneuvers especially disarm to keep mobs busy whilst doing no actual damage... Or an improvised weapon specialist... or a bard... or something...
Basically I'm looking for a fun, rules and book keeping light, NPC/GMPC to help an inexperienced player, not a face or a damage dealer.
I thought it might be fun to throw it out to the experts...

You're going to be controlling the NPC, right? So a little complication won't hurt?
I'd do a Sensei/Ki Mystic/Qiggong Monk, with a low Str and high Wis/Dex. You can do bard buffs, you can Maneuver well (since your attack rolls are Wis based,) or Stunning Fist, but you can't deal much damage (low Str.) At 5th, you can give her re-rolls, and at 6th, you can give out True Strike.

Aid another builds can be a great way to go - see this character's profile for an example (and she's even a character in Crypt of the Everflame). Build as a halfling instead of a gnome and you can provide even better bonuses, since they have a version of the Helpful trait that lets you provide +4 instead of +3 on aid another attempts. Either way, the small races tend to lend themselves well to silly voices. :)
