They're not his hands, he just holds them in his hands; in fact, they're "gear spirits," entities in their own right.

Oh yeah, I forgot he talks to them like friends....this tells me I need to play through the game again.

You're aware of the "Unfinished Business" restoration pack and stuff, right?

I am now, and I must download it!

Famous words of Nameless as a thief "You left your back exposed, idiot!"

At least Nameless is honest (man can you get some good back stabs with a thief focused Nameless!)

"What's the holdup?"

Ever try to run away from the Pillar of Skulls after you've refused their demand to give Morte back?

Probably the most terrifying sound in the game.

Don't worry Morte, we can get you back out of the pillar (we hope...)

My memorable moment was when Mort tells Annah. "Who am I? I am the head of Vecna."

I fell out of my chair laughing.

I thought it was even funnier when Grace replied "Oh, that was YOU?"

(Honestly, I'm kind of surprised Chris Avellone never became a novelist. After all the massive amounts of game text he's written it would be a breeze.)

He might or might not b a good novelist. He writes a lot, but he writes it in the context of interactive graphic medium that are games. Would he be able to connect that pieces (of delightfully wonderful) text into a good novel without the techniques offered by a computer game, though? Or would he end as another writer of read-me-once-and-throw-away fantasy books that are quite common?

I might need to install and play it once more... Dammit, I have too many games waiting to be finished!

Good heavens, do I know the feeling.

I always wondered why you can only get 1 sword in the entire game, and you have to have very high Wisdom and good Charisma to do it.

Game Secret:
Trias has to be convinced not to fight you and seek redemption for his crimes, in return, he gives you his sword, alas, you also have to be lawful good to use it, but it is a very nice sword, and the only actual sword in the game

Except you don't use it as a sword. You pick a weapon for it to transform into.

I was amused that the Nameless One apparently wasn't proficient in swords.

I went with knives as the thing my fighter levels focused on, since that carried over to mage mode.

Yeah, I need to find my copy of the game. I misplaced it somewhere when I last moved.

There is another, but you can't use that yourself.

** spoiler omitted **

IIRC, in most typical fantasy games, the coolest weapons are almost always swords. Ergo, in Planescape: Torment, where the devs were actively working to flip a LOT of RPG expectations on their heads, they explicitly eliminated usable swords from the game.

Other expectations flipped included stuff like the fact that in a normal RPG, the worst thing that could happen is you die, and you have to reload when you do, and your ultimate goal, beyond any other MacGuffin you seek, is to not die. In this game, death isn't a game over state, and sometimes you even have to die (temporarily) to solve certain dilemmas--not to mention of course that your final goal is in fact to die permanently.

Sissyl is correct of course, the other sword is the chained blade of Dak'kon, which alas, you cannot use. (though you and Dak'kon can work on being better mages together :) )

Good point DQ, that actually makes sense.

Oh yeah, you could change it into a mace or axe, but it you left it as is, it was a sword/really long dagger thing.

You can use it, but not in Planescape

Spoiler:
One of the two bonus merchants in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn sells it and other Planescape items. The merchant appears in the Adventurer Mart in Waukeen's Promenade in Athkatla.

Physical copy? Had that one long long ago... Now just I got many old cRPGs on GOG. Just to hoard them for all the eternity, probably! I am pretty sure I won't get to play some of them before I die. Too many new(er) games...

Yeah GOG is a great thing!

Yeah, I got a physical copy off Ebay before I knew about GOG. If I can't find it I'll probably just buy it again.

Loss and scratch proof to boot from GOG :) (hell, it even detects the OS you are on when you log in, and sets all your downloads to that OS automatically for that session, so you can say, install Dark Sun: Shattered Lands on your linux PC @ work, not that I would ever do such a thng...)

Just realized that Planescape: Torment was ahead of it's time in another way, Ingresses Teeth get a scaling attack and damage bonus as Morte levels, long before paladins and magus could ever do such a thing.

Plus, best quest reward ever, a slightly burnt crazed womans teeth, and they even gain stunning at high level, best chomps as reward ever!

It's even funnier with the Unfinished Business mod. :)

Nothing like chatting with chompers!
