Wielding a giant sized bow?

Advice

Silver Crusade

Is there a way for a character to wield a bow sized for large creatures/fire arrows that a giant would use? I have a character playing as the pregen Amiri in one of my games, she'ld like to eventually pick up a bow that she'll get from a dead giant, probably frost giant. It doesn't have to be actually a giant's bow, I think we'ld be okay with anything that increases the bow's damage by one size category.

Is your game a homebrew?

Cos if it is you can always ask your gm for options like a permanent gravity bow effect on a bow, etc.

Silver Crusade

I am the GM, I just prefer to find official answers before going homebrew, if nothing else, I may just remake the old greatbow from 3rd edition as a way for her to have it.

Go with the Greatbow. One feat (exotic weapon) and she gets the increased damage and increased range.

Even if she uses a Large longbow, she'll suffer a -2 attack penalty with it and she won't get increased range. Realistically, her arms won't be long enough to pull the bow all the way back anyway, but that's easy to ignore for the game's sake. In any case, the Greatbow is better.

Really, increasing the size adds 1 point of average damage. Even at fairly low levels this will make almost no difference in an encounter. So fluff it any way you like, it's almost not even worth worrying about. It starts to get fun when she gets spells like Enlarge Person or Gravity Bow to increase the damage even more - then she'll start to notice the difference.

Personally, I think Amiri is overcompensating...

Come on, DM_Blake, have you even read Amiri's bio? Of course she is.

Thanks for the advice.
