Need Help finding a Module.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

My table top rpg group is starting new pathfinder characters and we decided that we are going to give module play a chance for once.

After looking at a few different options we decided on the fallowing adventure path of modules

Hollow's Last Hope

Revenge of the Kobold King

Hungry Are the Dead

This adventure path stats at level 1 and ends at level 6 which leaves me with a problem. I've been looking for a module for level 6 characters but the only ones I've found are ether part of a series of adventures or have very bad reviews. I don't want to use a level 6 adventure that places the characters in the middle of a story or one that's really bad.

So if you have any you could suggest it would be extremely helpful and I would be very grateful

P.S it needs to take place in the Pathfinder Golarion setting preferable the Inner Seas region.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There is a 3.5 Module Red Hand of Doom. It's a level 6-12 mini campaign in which the heroes lead a fighting retreat across a valley as a monstrous horde invades. They fortify towns, sabotage enemy camps and assassinate key leaders to buy time. All events happen on a timeline with successes saving more lives and property and failures losing the same and costing time which makes it dynamic. It's one of my favorite modules.

It has recommendations for locales in Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk, but the campaign area is a valley 70 miles north-south by 250 miles east-west so it's pretty easy to squeeze in. It would work well with the Hollow's area and provide a natural continuation. A few towns and god would need to be renamed, is all.

Final fight is against an aspect of Tiamat, 5 headed dragon goddess.
It's 3.5 so challenge ratings should be dropped by 1 for all encounters or swap out the pathfinder equivalent to keep them the same.

Also, lots of low to mid level dragon involvement and all stats are included in the back of the book for easy reference.

Hungry Are the Dead has a tie-in to Whispering Tyrant lore, so following it with the City of Golden Death (lvl 5-7) would be an option. You just have to set it up in the preceding modules.

Dark Archive

I second Red Hand of DOOM. I like to pre face it with the speech from the 1970's movie called "The Warriors." the speech is given by a charismatic gang leader who brought all the gangs of NYC into a truce to convince them to team up against all the cops of the city! It is a great movie. You can even make a campaign out of the film.

I also recommend a Paizo module written in i'ts 3.5 days called Conquest of the Bloodsworn Vale, a place in the Golarion setting.

You could even run red hand of doom and later make reference to the goblinoid uprising in the nearby region as the Red Hand of DOOM. The Bloodsworn vale even has a group of surviving goblinoids from a failed uprising of their people.

While written for 5th level characters, I am finding Carrion Hill to be an excellent adventure. I do not think it would be very difficult at all to raise the challenge level up one level and accommodate a 6th level party.

I have not gotten yet, but am looking forward to The House on Hook Street which runs from 6th level to 9th. The Paizo blog post on it sounded very good.

Unless you plan to adapt the material, stepping into an Adventure Path can be difficult, with characters missing contacts or context for earlier adventurers. Having said that, Council of Thieves pt3 What Lies in Dust should be easy to adapt, based on my experience playing through it, especially the exploration of the abandoned Pathfinder Lodge in Westcrown.

Likewise, Legacy of Fire pt 2 House of the Beast starts at 5th but goes through 6th with characters ending at 7th. This adventure is 3.5, and would need conversion to Pathfinder rule sets. However, having said that it, is an excellent exploration and dungeon crawl, and would be relatively easy to have a party run this adventure as a standalone with only modest modification. When the group I play with went through it we enjoyed it and found it very challenging, with opportunities for the game master to direct the different opponents to respond dynamically to the party's actions.
