I was thinking of dipping a level of Far Strike Monk for the bonus feats needed for the Slipslinger Style feat tree, but was wondering if his Flurry of Blows alteration would allow me to flurry with Slings.
Technically this should work, seeing as Slings are in the thrown weapon group? Reasoning is similar to the fact that Slings can also be used in the Startoss Style, which was meant for thrown weapons also.
Flurry of Blows (Ex)
A far strike monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action as long as he's attacking with thrown weapons.

Slings are in the thrown weapon group, but they are projectile weapons, not thrown. A Far Strike monk cannot flurry with them.
Projectile Weapons: Blowguns, crossbows, shortbows, slings, longbows, and halfling sling staves are examples of projectile weapons—weapons that launch ammunition at a target. Most projectile weapons require two hands to use (see specific weapon descriptions). A character cannot apply his Strength modifier on damage rolls with a projectile weapon unless it's a sling or a specially built composite shortbow or composite longbow. If the character has a penalty for low Strength, apply it to damage rolls when she uses a bow or a sling.

Who knows? Thrown weapons can mean different things and there is no one feature or property that we can look at to tell if a weapon is thrown unlike monk weapons having the monk property.
Best thing to do is ask your DM and see what they think. Did the changed flurry of blow mean any weapon that can be thrown [even those with the Throwing enchant] or any weapon in the thrown weapon group? Either one leads to odd results like using a projectile weapon or a throwing katana...

Was there an errata to Ranged Tactics Toolbox or some other ruling that came to light lately? Because according to this thread http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2nm54?How-to-build-a-Halfling-Sling-Master you seem to have stated that Far Strike Monk can indeed flurry with slings.

I was wrong then, and had not yet fully grasped the differences between a fighter weapon group and the actual thrown class of weapon.

It's not ambiguous. A thrown weapon is a ranged weapon you make attacks with by throwing it. When making attacks with a sling, you're not throwing the sling itself. You're using the sling to fire projectiles. The weapon rules specifically make the distinction between a projectile and thrown ranged weapon. Therefore, a sling is a projectile weapon, not a thrown weapon.

It depends on what the person meant when they said 'thrown weapon'. It's not as clear as you seem to think. Look at Startoss Style once. The author has stated that his intent was that this line of style feats was meant to work with Slipslinger Style and slings. Note that the Slipslinger Style require a "single ranged thrown weapon attack". This means that they thought that an attack with a sling counted as a "ranged thrown weapon attack". he even said he conferred with the author of the Slipslinger Style feats to make sure it worked.
If it where to work as you say, then the feats are mostly useless to a sling even though they can be picked as they are "one weapon from the thrown fighter weapon group".
Diego Rossi: the OP stated they where getting Slipslinger Style, so free reloads wouldn't be an issue.
