Deific Obedience to Gorum, Meeting the Sentinel Requirements

Rules Questions

The second Boon for a Sentinel is:

Two-Handed Smash (Ex):
If you make a full attack while wielding a two-handed melee weapon, you may make a single unarmed strike in addition to your normal attacks. In essence, after you complete your two-handed weapon attacks, you smash with your elbow, kick out with a foot, or make some other unarmed strike against an opponent. This bonus attack is made at your highest base attack bonus, and provokes an attack of opportunity if you lack the Improved Unarmed Strike feat or a similar ability. If you’re Medium, you deal 1d6 points of damage with this unarmed strike; if you’re Small, you deal 1d4 points of damage. Add half your Strength bonus to the damage dealt. The attack roll for the unarmed strike is subject to the normal penalties for two-weapon fighting unless you have the feats to reduce these penalties.

How many ways are there to satisfy the requirement to use a "two-handed melee weapon?"

Obviously, a normal full attack with any two-handed weapon passes the test, but what about weapons that are normally two-handed by can be used in one hand? Lances While Mounted, Earth Breaker with the right feat, etc.

On a related note: Does the FAQ overrule the written rules for the Barbazu Beard weapon?

What I'm looking for is a way to fulfill the requirement while still using two-weapon fighting.

Not sure if it is possible, but it shouldn't be, and I hope it isn't.

The explicit purpose is to give you an unarmed attack when you full attack with a two-handed weapon.
Anything else isn't meant to work, and hopefully won't work.

RAW a weapon like a Longsword is a One-Handed-Weapon that is just wielded in two hands, so would not satisfy the Boon requirements.

Likewise an Earthbreaker is a Two-Handed-Weapon even if you wield him in one hand at the moment.

RAI i would say that it is relevant how you wield it when seeing if you get the boon, instead of what type of weapon it is.

Well that's petty

Keeping in mind that two-weapon fighting is generally inferior to two-handed fighting, I'm not sure why anyone would hope this doesn't work, and I don't really want to know.

Obviously, the intended effect was to use a two-handed weapon in the traditional manner. However, the question remains, does a two-handed weapon wielded in one-hand satisfy the requirement?

Double-weapons are listed as two-handed weapons but their rules state that they can be wielded "as if fighting with two weapons", and "as though the character were wielding a one-handed weapon and a light weapon," but is it still a two-handed weapon as far as the feat is concerned?

The rules for a lance state: "While mounted, you can wield a lance with one hand." Which has been accepted as still counting as a two-handed weapon for STR to damage, Power Attack, etc.

Then there's the Thunder and Fang feat which allows an earthbreaker to be used "as though it were a one-handed weapon." The wording of which has been interpreted to mean it now counts as a one-handed weapon for STR, Power Attack, etc.

How about a two-handed weapon (a greatsword) being used in one hand? Sure, you take penalties, but does it satisfy the feat?

And another one!

The Brawler's Flurry specifically mentions using a "weapon wielded in both hands" as part of the flurry.
