what does "Favorite Card : Weapon or Spell" means ?

1- I choose which one is my favorite and draw hands until I have my choice
2- I draw hands until I have any one of the 2 (which could suck if you were unlucky with your spells)

You choose one before drawing your hand, and continue redrawing until you have one of that type.

Draw Starting Hands. Each character card includes a hand size for that character. Draw that number of cards from your character deck. The character card also lists a favored card type; if more than one is listed, choose 1 type before drawing.

Whoops ... we've been doing this wrong.

And there are two special words there that mean what you'd expect them to based on that rule: "None" means you don't have a favored card type so you keep your initial starting hand no matter what's in it, and "Any" means you get to pick any one card type to be your favorite before drawing your starting hand. Picking Armor for Lem is a great way to make new friends, for example.

I wasn't sure when 2 were listed.
I have the rulebooks downloaded and I finally found the information P7 (as mentioned above) but only in the "Wrath of the Righteous" rulebook.

RotRl and S&S does not mention it (and as I'm playing RotRl, that's why I didn't find it)

good to know I'm not completely crazy.

It's in the S&S rulebook - page 7. It wasn't in RotR because those characters never had a choice; they always had just one favourite card type or had "Your Choice".
