Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Hey,
I am still a newb working my way through the 1st adventure deck. I am obsessed with reading the forums as much as possible!lol. I was looking through the snapshot s discussion where a few people said they went through all six decks with no deaths and no failed scenarios!!! Isn't this pretty unlikely? I can't see how you could win every time!?!?! Maybe I am missing something. Just curious.

No deaths isn't unlikely, since you can often choose to lose when you are at risk of dying. I've never personally completed an adventure path without losing.

I wouldn't say it is impossible though.

Edit: Here is an old, but interesting comment.

I'm closing in on 400 scenarios played and Ive only died once.

Lost quite a few more though.

In addition, keep in mind some player counts are easier than the others. 5-6 player tends to be easier to lose because there is a lot more time pressure.

High player counts cause time pressure where you often finish with just a few blessings left or just run out of time. Playing with just one or two characters can cause you to risk death more often because you have fewer overall resources to deal with specific problems. Playing solo characters I have died twice. I can't say that I've played as many games as Pirate Rob.

My experience is that if you have a group of players focused on the scenario's success, teamwork, strategy, and not so much into looting, you will:
- die in ~1% of the scenarios
- lose in ~5% of the scenarios

If like us you try some fun stuff in roleplay (vs pure strategy), these numbers double

Lini and Damiel could probably play through an infinite number of scenarios without losing or dying.

I just want to expand upon this; There is a pretty significant power difference between characters. Me and a buddy played Feiya and Heggal through S&S and we were having such an easy time of it we decided to play with 8 locations for deck 6 and still beat 2 of the 5 scenarios on the first try.

On the other hand we've now played through AD1 of S&S with Vika and Olenjack and are struggling to the point where I'd swear we were playing a different game entirely.

I actually really enjoy the fact that the characters have varying levels of power because it allows you to adjust the difficulty of the game without resorting to house rules.
