Taking a Runelord Alive? [The Waking Rune Spoilers]

Liberty's Edge 4/5

So I just ran The Waking Rune for a bunch of core players and something interesting happened, that I haven't ever heard of happening and it is making me think I might have done something wrong.

Spoiler:
They took Runelord Krune alive!

During the fight with the lash-mistress I played up the fact that Krune was waking up and had the coffin vibrate and make noise. One of the wizards, afraid that Krune was going to start conjuring monsters, spent seven rounds to cast a scroll of forbiddence (ignoring the ongoing fight). I thought this would trigger Krune's contingency dispel magic, but only rolled a 2 on the dispel check and failed to get rid of the forbiddence. When Krune woke up and realized he couldn't teleport out of the coffin, he was surprised and started to talk to the PCs. They talked for a while, but when it became evident that the PCs weren't there to bring him back to glory, he swore to kill them, and I called for initiative. The same wizard won initiative, cast Anti-Magic Field and jumped on his coffin. ... at this point I couldn't find anything that he could do and after a few minutes of me flipping through the scenario, he offered his surrender.

So my question to all of you brilliant and experienced players/GMs is what could Krune have done to still fight? There weren't any stats for PCs to open his coffin without destroying it so I assumed he couldn't do it either. Was that a good assumption? I also assumed his spear wouldn't work in the anti-magic field. Is that true for artifact level weapons though? What do you guys think?

Not sure forbiddance would have worked, or antimagic.

He could have telephoned from coffin to another room. Antimagic field would not stop this, as no line of effect to inside the coffin.

Forbiddance might work, so you use his

Spoiler:
wish

To negate the forbiddance.

Artifacts ignore antimagic fields:

Core Rulebook, spell description wrote:
Certain spells, such as wall of force, prismatic sphere, and prismatic wall, remain unaffected by antimagic field. Artifacts and deities are unaffected by mortal magic such as this.

Really? Because I can never get bars when I'm stuck in a coffin. He must have a better celluar provider than I do.

A scroll of forbiddance? Was the cost of the material component included?

Forbiddance isn't on the wizard list, did he make the DC31 UMD check?

A Runelord would not surrender after mere minutes.

Even if he was Dominated, I'd say that surrendering was "against his nature".

He's more intelligent than any PC. He'd bide his time.

He also has

Spoiler:
2 artifact level items

4/5 ****

Artifacts work even in anti-magic fields.

The coffin prevents line of effect to inside, so while he can't teleport into the room with the PCs, he could teleport just about anywhere else in his dungeon.

Another option:
Even if the wizard did spend around 5000 gp on a scroll of Forbiddance and managed to cast it, and would effect the inside of the coffin, Krune's permanent arcane sight would have noticed the aura of the forbiddance and his knowledge arcana of +30 would identify a 11th level spell in effect with ease. one of his regular dispels would have taken care of it.

The Exchange 3/5

I'm fairly sure every faction's mission and the primary mission of the scenario is to kill him also.
