Melee Dracconic Bloodline sorcerer?

Advice

So I'm starting a new pathfinder campaign, level 1 start, 15 point buy standard fantasy.

My bf wants to play a Draconic Sorc. I'm not the best with spell classes so I almost never play them.

He is an Elf and going black dragon, and he really likes the idea of having claws as a main attack. (He is thinking Mage Armor and magic missile as his first level 1 spells) He is fairly new to pathfinder.

I'm looking for advice on how to make this viable for him. Feats, traits, spells, stats suggestions.
It hurts that he ha a -2 for con for being an Elf and wanting to get into melee. Obviously at higher levels he wants to turn into a dragon via bloodline.
Ideas?

Is he aware of the bloodrager? Does he really want to play a sorceror who melees or does he just want to be a dragonish natural attacker?

Starting as Sorcerer and later taking levels in Dragon Disciple tends to work better for melee characters than pure sorcerer.

Dark Archive

Sorcerer gets Form of the Dragon I at level 13, FotDII at level 15 and FotDIII at level 17.
Dragon Disciple gets FotDI at level 12 and FotDII at level 15.
Bloodrager gets FotDII at level 16.
The Eldritch Scion archetype for the Magus can also get a Bloodrager Bloodline and the Blood Arcanist gets a Sorcerer bloodline, but not the bonus spells, so he can just learn them at level 12, 14 and 16.

I think those are your options when it comes to bloodlines using core stuff.

Then there is 3rd party stuff like Spheres of Power, which would allow him to transform into a dragon at level 1. (Alteration Sphere with Dragon Transformation and Avian Transformation for wings. At caster level 5 or with Greater Transformation you could add Size Change. An Incanter could do this at level 1, so you'd only need a 1 level dip.)

Or maybe a Synthesist Summoner.

Though I would say that if you aren't very good with spells and he is not that experienced he might want to stay away from the spellcasters and try the fighter first so he can learn the rules first.

I really would not recommend any form of gish on a 15 point buy, but that's just me.

He could also start with bard and go dragon disciple:
- more utility spells which would befit his role as pre-combat buffer better
- better BAB
- better saves
- better armor
- gets to write his own tale of legend

Go bard (arcane duelist) to lvl 6 for Arcane Strike, Combat Casting, and Disruptive as bonus feats plus Bladethirst to enhance one of his natural weapons, than dragon disciple; or wait til bard 7 to start inspire courage as a move action.

Ruyan.
