I want to change Ruth from Garundi to Keleshite can I do that now? It should not change anything but the flavor of the character. She will be the same but I think that Keleshite fits her better after reading more about them.

I need to finish my purchases and my tagline, but nothing should really interfere with the Competitions.

Jester is sort of the opposite of Ruth. He has quite a large personality, but scarring and a sarcastic sense of humor that are impediments in social situations.
Etune Snowfoot

Etune is a cross between Guy Fleegman from Galaxy Quest and a hyper-active kid on sugar. She almost died in the first combat encounter of her Confirmation...
Goldur Twinthunders
|
Ha, nice. That was a surprisingly funny movie. Goldur is built around one very simple concept: out of the six stats, you so rarely see anyone who builds Con as their highest. (Aside from Scarred Witch Doctors and, now, Kineticists.) Everyone likes having decent Con, but in virtually every character concept it's secondary at best.

Florin is a rather easy going, naive and fresh out of temple training pathfinder. She's going to take most people's word at face value.
A rather vanilla paladin.

I'll say this for CORE vs. Normal. This is the third scenario my character's been in, and the second one she's been bleeding out in... In Normal, I think I've a character in that spot maybe... three times over three dozen scenarios....
Goldur Twinthunders
|
Yea I've played very little CORE-- neither of my CORE characters have even hit level 2. By pure coincidence both of them have the Toughness feat: this character because it's basically his whole shtick, and my diviner because I wanted her to have some gristle on those bones. Looking at the rest of the party, it seems that's a much more popular 1st-level choice than I would've thought.
Etune Snowfoot
|
I *steadfastly* refuse to auto-take Toughness or auto-barbarian to try and get through the first three scenarios. If they aren't designed with balance in mind, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

May the dice have mercy on us!!!

One other thing about this scenario: there isn't a 4-player modification. I'm guessing it's assumed that since it's a Special, it'll be full tables.
Core definitely *does* require a bit more tactics over encounters that can just be beaten by feature-creep from years of new products. It does require rolling higher than 10s, though ;)
Etune Snowfoot
|
I figure since this is my only CORE character, if she bites it, I won't have to worry about the CORE campaign anymore. She started as an experiment to see what it was like.

Complete agree. Honestly, I was just made aware of the barbarian tactic not long ago. I do make liberal use of the rebuild rule, sometimes rebuilding after each of the first three scenarios if a build turns out not to be as fun as I had hoped, but that's taking it to a whole new level. To me, using a character build without the slightest intention of keeping it seems almost like cheating. (I fully intend to give Goldur more barbarian levels.)

@Florin- perfect time for a Smite Evil :)

I have never even thought of playing a character Barbarian then switching it to whatever class I want. That is cheating. I do fine tune my builds often but that is just not cool.
I have toughness on Ruth because it fits my character build and I love that feat when I have a character that will be having a lot of feats to work with.

I had a couple of people in the PbP Core Confirmation Etune was in (where she nearly died ignominiously in the first encounter) private message me and ask why I hadn't pushed up my Constitution or taken Toughness or gone Barbarian to 'get through 1st level'.
Aside from being rude, how can I figure out how to handle being 'squishy' if I don't have the experience of it in play?
Florin Leogil
|
I'm afraid even with Smite Evil. The dice bots might just smite me instead.
Goldur Twinthunders
|
Yea, being squishy is a problem. It's not as bad as it was in 3.5 (d4 hit dice, yeesh) but wizard/sorcerer hit points still suck. Your stats are actually pretty decent for a sorcerer-- 7 HP, (buffed) AC of 19. If you don't want to take Toughness, really your only other option is to put in for more Con-- not in the interest of surviving to level 2, but in the interest of surviving in general. Pure casters have it much easier in a carefully balanced home group, but not so much in PFS-- at least, not until their casting power ramps up.
Jester Varn
|
The joke in my 3.5 gaming group is that until level 3 wizards / sorcs are crossbowmen. Slap a breastplate on them and hand them a crossbow; being able to do 1d4+1 for a Magic Missile isn't worth it ;)

Well, if I somehow make it through this in one piece, that's L2.

@Jester - add 2 charges back to your wand of healing. Ruth will use the 1 potion found on the Aspis Agents and 1 found here on the Owl men.

Save the potions. Wand charges are cheap and potions are usable in combat if needed

Sorry for my lack of posting it has been a busy weekend. Holiday parties and stuff. I will have a post up tonight after work.

This one is challenging for me because I know *exactly* what to do and with this solution it's hard to separate GM from player knowledge.
I don't want to metagame it and I'll let others take the lead and nudge as needed
Florin Leogil

Same here. I'm GMing it too
Etune Snowfoot

I played it on 'Standard' at GenCon at a different tier...
Goldur Twinthunders

Jeez, am I the only one who doesn't know how to move forward? I'm playing in a Standard game now as well (same tier), we're pretty much in the exact same place-- although I suppose right now probably everyone is.

Everybody could use this I'm sure.
