Superstitious barbarian and witch hexes.

Advice

I have a player thats playing a superstitious barbarian.

Superstition (Ex)
Benefit: The barbarian gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws made to resist spells, supernatural abilities, and spell-like abilities. This bonus increases by +1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has attained. While raging, the barbarian cannot be a willing target of any spell and must make saving throws to resist all spells, even those cast by allies.

So if a hex is classified as a SU or SP, the barbarian would have to roll to see if she falls under the effect of fortune?

Cackle (Su)
Effect: A witch can cackle madly as a move action. Any creature that is within 30 feet that is under the effects of an agony hex, charm hex, evil eye hex, fortune hex, or misfortune hex caused by the witch has the duration of that hex extended by 1 round.

A cackle is a supernatural ability thats extending the duration of a hex. Would the barbarian have to roll to see if shes affected by the cackles extended duration as its a "new" or "ongoing" effect?

i would say yes on the first, though it could be debatable

no on the cackle, since it is not affecting him but a spell effect on him (the same way you can dispel haste with slow and they get no save)

Superstition only affects spells and effects that have saves, or specifically do not work on unwilling targets. If there is no way for the barbarian to resist the effect then it is irrelevant.

For example, cure spells allow a save but willing targets do not make saves against them. However, the raging superstitious barbarian must make a save to halve the amount of healing done.

Teleportation can only be performed on a willing target, so the raging superstitious barbarian cannot be teleported.

In both cases this is because the barbarian is resisting the effect.

Fortune and Cackle cannot be resisted - if used on an enemy they automatically succeed - so the supertitious barbarian is affected normally.
