Archer Halfling Kami Medium flying on his Origami familiar(does it get beast shape or no?)

I had this idea to make a archer Halfling medium and the kami medium sounds pretty cool. Now as I read it the familiar gets beast shape, does this mean I could passibly make it medium and fly around on it?

It can only Beast Shape back to its original form (a Dimunutive/Tiny/Small animal)

You *can* make a Mauler familiar, which lets it grow to medium size you can ride it. But it will lose Mauler at 5th when it turns into a real Shikigami. :(

But Kami Medium 4, with Spirit focus (Champion) would give you a nice flying mount and surges/boon/etc for Archery following up with another class.

I really wanted to do build like this, but until PFS clarifies the Medium seance location requirements, actually making a Champion focused Kami Medium is too risky ("Storms"?!?!) for my taste.

I ended up making a Duettist Bard with a Mauler Hawk, to a similar end.

Damn I was really hoping this would be possible!
If you don't mind me asking iv'e seen the mauler familiar term thrown around quite a bit, how does that work?

Mauler is a familiar archetype from the Familiar Folio. Instead of delivering touch spells, they're stronger and have the ability to grow to medium size starting at 3rd level.

Since growing from Tiny to medium gives you +4 strength, they can get reasonably strong and provide a damage boost. Not quite Animal Companion level without more tricks, but still useful.

Sadly, Improved familiars are not eligible for archetypes
