Can a animal companion take a ranged feat?

Rules Questions

Even at level 1 or 2.

Could say a ooze has a acid ranged attack.

Could it take precise shot or point blank shot as feats?

I know it can at level four but I don't want to waste ranged feats that early. On toughness and the like.

If it's INT is 3 or higher it can take any feat it qualifies for. If it's INT isn't that high you can only take a feat from the list. So if your ooze has a high enough INT and meets the requirements he can take ranged feats.

To add to what was said by Chess Pwn, the list of normally available feats is as follows:

"Animal companions can select from the following feats: Acrobatic, Agile Maneuvers, Armor Proficiency (light, medium, and heavy), Athletic, Blind-Fight, Combat Reflexes, Diehard, Dodge, Endurance, Great Fortitude, Improved Bull Rush, Improved Initiative, Improved Natural Armor, Improved Natural Attack, Improved Overrun, Intimidating Prowess, Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes, Mobility, Power Attack, Run, Skill Focus, Spring Attack, Stealthy, Toughness, Weapon Finesse, and Weapon Focus. Animal companions with an Intelligence of 3 or higher can select any feat they are physically capable of using. GMs might expand this list to include feats from other sources."

So your ooze would have to have an intelligence score of 3 or better to take either Point-Blank Shot or Precise Shot.
